Latest Rangers Loan Review

RANGERS have a number of players out on loan across the Men’s, Women’s and Academy sides at present and here’s our review of how each of those fared over the weekend.

Ianis Hagi – Alaves

Ianis was a second half substitute as Alaves played out a 2-2 draw against Girona on Friday evening.

It was a first league appearance for the Romanian midfielder since March and he will be keen to maintain his involvement when his side make the trip to the Santiago Bernabeu to face champions Real Madrid this evening.

Sam Lammers – FC Utrecht

Sam started and played the full 90 minutes as FC Utrecht’s impressive unbeaten run came to an end with a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Sparta Rotterdam.

The 27-year-old will round off his loan spell with a visit from AZ Alkmaar this Sunday afternoon as he eyes his tenth goal of the Eredivisie campaign.

Adam Devine – Motherwell

Adam made his return from injury with a substitute appearance in Motherwell’s emphatic 5-1 away triumph over Ross County on Saturday afternoon.

The 21-year-old played the final five minutes in the Highlands after missing the last month of action.

The Scotland Under-21 international will be targeting a positive end to the campaign as the Steelmen make the trip to Easter Road tomorrow evening before welcoming St. Johnstone to Lanarkshire in the final game of the season this weekend.

Arron Lyall – Airdrieonians

Arron featured in both legs of Airdrieonians’ play-off tie against Partick Thistle as the Diamonds were edged out 4-3 on aggregate.

The 20-year-old midfielder was introduced as a second half substitute in the first leg in Lanarkshire as the sides played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Arron was then given the nod from the off in the return leg at Firhill on Friday evening, hauling Airdrieonians back into the game with a well-taken second half strike after Brian Graham’s double had put Thistle in the driving seat.

His strike proved insufficient in mounting a comeback for Rhys McCabe’s side, but the 20-year-old will reflect on a positive second half of the campaign with the Diamonds.

Jay Hogarth – Dumbarton

Jay featured in both legs as Dumbarton stamped their ticket to the play-off final with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Stirling Albion.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper kept a crucial clean sheet in a goalless return leg at Forthbank on Saturday afternoon.

The Sons are now set to square off against Spartans for a place in League One, with Jay and his side making the trip through to the capital for the first leg this evening.

James Graham – Dumbarton

Likewise, James also featured across both legs of the play-off semi-final triumph over the League One outfit.

The 19-year-old’s pace off the substitutes bench proved invaluable as the Sons closed out victory in a nervy second leg and he will be keen to play a further part with the Sons potentially 180 minutes away from promotion.

Lewis Budinauckas – Stranraer

Lewis started between the posts as Stranraer played out a 2-2 draw with East Kilbride at K-Park in the SPFL Pyramid play-off final first leg on Saturday afternoon.

The draw means it’s all to play for in the return leg at Stair Park this weekend as the Blues look to retain their place in League Two.

Megan Bell – Hearts

Megan returned to the Hearts starting lineup and featured for 78 minutes of the contest as they were condemned to a derby day defeat on Friday evening.

The Jambos were beaten 2-0 by Hibs at Meadowbank Stadium with the Northern Ireland international earning further game time as her loan spell in the capital nears its conclusion.

The midfielder will hopeful of playing a part in their next match tomorrow evening before they round off their league campaign this weekend.

Jenna Ferguson – Partick Thistle

Jenna was a second half substitute as Partick Thistle were beaten on Sunday afternoon in the SWPL.

The defender featured for the final 22 minutes of the contest in a 3-0 home defeat and she will be hopeful of a recall to the starting lineup when they are next in action on Wednesday night where they host Glasgow City in their final home match of the season.

Megan Cunningham – Partick Thistle

The goalkeeper started between the posts at the Excelsior Stadium in the league defeat.

She will again be hopeful of adding to her run of starts in tomorrow night’s match against last season’s champions as Brian Graham’s side look to bounce back and end the season on a high.

Kayla Jardine – Motherwell

Kayla continued her impressive run of form in a Motherwell jersey this season by contributing in their 3-2 away win over Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

The winger was in the starting lineup and featured for 65 minutes with her cross being diverted into her own net by Chloe Gover for the opening goal as they sealed three points at the Balmoral Stadium.

They are back in action tomorrow night as they host Hamilton in their penultimate match of the season.

Laura Berry – Motherwell

Laura was recognised for her fantastic showings since making the temporary loan switch by being named the SWPL Player of the Month winner for April recently.

The striker followed on from receiving the accolade by adding to her goal tally in the league win as Paul Brownlie’s side continued their impressive form.

The forward made it nine goals in 10 matches since making the move, as she hopes to reach double figures in their final two outings this week.

Summer Laird – Spartans

Summer was an unused substitute for both of Spartans as they claimed a weekend win the SWPL with a 1-0 victory over Hamilton.

The young centre-back will be hopeful of gaining further minutes in their last two matches of the season this week, where they take on Montrose this evening before rounding off their campaign against Aberdeen this Sunday lunchtime.

Mason Clark – Hamilton Academical

Mason continued her run in the Hamilton side as she featured for the entirety of the contest in the defeat to Spartans at the weekend.

The Accies remain level on points with bottom of the table Dundee United, as they look to avoid the automatic relegation spot in their final two matches of the season.

Rebecca Taylor – Hamilton Academical

The midfielder hasn’t been involved in Hamilton’s fixtures in recent weeks as she continues to make a recovery from an injury.

The Accies will aim to try maintain their top-flight status this season when they take on Motherwell and Montrose to round off the campaign.

Lucy Inman – Queen’s Park

Lucy was an unused substitute as Queen’s Park played out a 1-1 draw with Boroughmuir Thistle in SWPL 2 on Sunday.

The Spiders make the trip to Livingston this weekend to round off their season with the youngster hopeful of a final appearance to bring her loan spell to an end as they side prepare for top-flight football next season.
