Latest Rangers Loan Review

RANGERS have a number of players out on loan across the Men's, Women’s and Academy sides at present and here’s our review of how each of those fared over the weekend.

Ross McCausland – Winger – Aris Limassol

Ross was a second-half substitute as Aris Limassol fell to a 2-0 defeat to APOEL Nicosia.

The Northern Irishman has been in impressive form for Aris this campaign, but couldn’t help reverse his side’s losing position when he was introduced late in the contest.

Ben Davies – Defender – Oxford United

Ben was an unused substitute in Oxford United's 2-0 defeat to Swansea City over the weekend.

The side have won just once in their last seven league outings and will be keen to get back on track over the festive period.

Leon King – Defender – Ayr United

Leon started as Ayr United earned a creditable clean sheet against Partick Thistle on Saturday afternoon.

The defender has been a mainstay in the side for the Ayrshire outfit this season as they target promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

Paul Nsio – Midfielder – Raith Rovers

Paul, meanwhile, started once again for Raith as they played out a goalless draw of their own against St. Johnstone.

It was a sixth successive appearance for the 19-year-old, who has developed into an ever-present in the side.

Josh Gentles – Forward – Raith Rovers

Josh was an unused substitute in the draw away from home.

The young forward has been a regular off the bench for Raith this season and will be hungry to net his first goal for the Kirkcaldy side.

Zander Hutton – Defender – Hamilton Academical

Zander started and played the full 90 minutes as Hamilton were held to a goalless draw by Stenhousemuir.

It was a welcome clean sheet for the Lanarkshire side after their Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Airdrieonians last month.

Jack Wyllie – Defender – Kelty Hearts

Jack started for Kelty as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Montrose in league action.

The defender started in a three-man backline and is certainly benefiting from his experience playing every week in League One.

Calum Adamson – Midfielder – Alloa Athletic

Calum started for Alloa as they returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion in a 4-0 victory over Peterhead.

The midfielder produced an impressive display in midfield as the Wasps’ positive league form continued.

Lewis Stewart – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Lewis, in the meantime, netted his first home goal in Alloa colours in the triumph.

The young winger got the scoring underway when he stroked home from a cut-back in confident fashion.

Callum Burnside – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Callum also netted his first home goal for Alloa to cap off the scoring in the victory.

The Northern Irishman earned yet another Player of the Match award and rifled home from the edge of the penalty area to get his name on the scoresheet.

Arran Kerr – Defender – Stirling Albion

Arran was introduced in the first half for Stirling Albion in their 3-2 defeat at Stranraer on Saturday afternoon.

The youngster is now closing to racking up a handful of valuable appearances after joining the Binos on a co-operation loan until the end of the season.

Connor Campbell – Defender – Stirling Albion

Connor was on the bench for Stirling Albion in the narrow defeat.

The defender marked his return from injury for Rangers Under-19s eight days ago and will hope to make his Binos debut over the coming weeks.

Lyle Wark – Defender – Forfar Athletic

Lyle was a second-half substitute for Forfar as they were condemned to defeat by East Kilbride.

The 18-year-old has lined up in a variety of positions on the left for the League Two side as he tastes his first experience in senior football.

Sophie Black – Midfielder- Motherwell

Sophie was not involved in the Motherwell squad who made their return from the international break as they suffered a 3-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Glasgow City.

Attention turns back to league business for the K-Park side this Sunday, when they host Hearts.

Lily Boyce – Midfielder- Motherwell

Lily, likewise, wasn’t involved in the defeat at Petershill as her team exited the Scottish Cup at the third round stage.

The youngster was recently on international duty as she helped Scotland Under-19’s move to the round two qualifying round for the U19 Euros. As her focus will now be on being a regular feature at club level, with her side having two more games this calendar year.

Sophie Townsley – Striker – Hamilton

Sophie was in the Hamilton lineup who suffered an agonising Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Montrose at the weekend.

The young forward was on hand to score the equaliser for her first goal of the season to force extra time, before they ultimately fell to a 2-1 defeat to drop out of the competition as they still await their first victory this season.

Natalie Bandura – Striker- Spartans

Natalie and Spartans were due to take on Hearts in their respective third-round Scottish Cup match on Sunday, but the match was postponed due to a significant leak within the Foundation building at the stadium.

The match has been rescheduled for tomorrow evening; however, the Edinburgh club is facing a tough test in order to progress to the next round.

CaCee McKenna – Defender – Spartans

CaCee, likewise, will be hoping to take part in the fixture tomorrow evening when they face a stern test against the side currently in second place in the SPWPL standings.

The Edinburgh club will be looking to cause a midweek cup upset before resuming league business this Sunday, taking on Stirling University.

Lucy Livie – Winger- Boroughmuir Thistle

Lucy started and featured for 60 minutes as Boroughmuir produced an impressive Scottish Cup showing with a 6-0 win over Edinburgh Uni Thistle.

They have been handed a top-flight side as a result of the victory, with a trip to take on Partick Thistle awaiting them in the new year.

Sophie Rutherford – Winger- Queen’s Park

Sophie was in the starting lineup for Queen’s Park as they produced a vastly impressive Scottish Cup showing with an emphatic 9-0 win over fellow SPWPL 2 side St Johnstone.

The winger was on hand to score twice for her team, as they will look to take confidence from result with a fixture against Glasgow City awaiting them in the next round.

Mia McArthur – Midfielder – Gartcairn

Mia was in the lineup from the off as Gartcairn fell to a 1-0 defeat in the Scottish Cup third round against Kilmarnock.

Despite the disappointment on her return to club business, it has been a standout few weeks for the young midfielder, who was involved with the Scotland Under-19’s squad for the first time over the break.

Rebecca Simpson – Defender - Gartcairn

Rebecca was part of the squad that fell to a slender defeat as their Scottish Cup campaign came to an end for the season.

Gartcairn will look to respond in league action this weekend, as they make the trip to take on Dundee United.

Alba Stewart – Midfielder- Gartcairn

Alba was again named in the starting lineup as the league leaders knocked her side out of this year’s Scottish Cup.

Despite the result, it was a productive performance from the youngster, who was named joint player of the match for her team.
