Latest Rangers Loan Review

RANGERS have a number of players out on loan across the Men’s, Women’s and Academy sides at present and here’s our review of how each of those fared over the weekend.

Ross McCausland – Winger – Aris Limassol

Ross was an unused substitute as Aris lost out narrowly to UEFA Champions League outfit Pafos on Friday evening.

The winger was involved for Northern Ireland in the most recent set of international fixtures as Aris now shift their attention to a clash with Paralimni this weekend.

Oscar Cortes – Winger – Sporting Gijon

Oscar was a second half substitute for Sporting Gijon as they fell to defeat against SD Huesca.

The Colombian played the final 27 minutes for the Spanish outfit who are still searching for their first victory since the end of October.

Ben Davies – Defender – Oxford United

Ben was an unused substitute in Oxford United's 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough over the weekend.

The defender’s last league appearance arrived in a victory over Sheffield Wednesday last month as the side make the trip to face Norwich City, managed by former Gers boss Philippe Clement, this evening.

Leon King – Defender – Ayr United

Leon started and played the full 90 minutes for Ayr United in their win over Airdrieonians on Saturday afternoon.

The defender missed last weekend’s draw with Arbroath but has otherwise been a mainstay in the side since he joined on a season-long loan.

Paul Nsio – Midfielder – Raith Rovers

Paul, meanwhile, made his fourth successive start for Raith in their goalless draw with Arbroath on Saturday afternoon.

The 19-year-old midfielder has established himself in the side at Stark’s Park and will be keen to impress the incoming manager, Dougie Imrie, in the weeks ahead.

Josh Gentles – Forward – Raith Rovers

Josh was a second half substitute for the Kirkcaldy outfit in the stalemate.

It was a third appearance in a row for the young forward who captained and netted for Wales Under-19s on international duty recently.

Zander Hutton – Defender – Hamilton Academical

Zander played the full 90 minutes for Hamilton as they returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Kelty Hearts at Broadwood Stadium.

The full-back has been a mainstay in the Accies side as they look to climb back up the League One table following their recent points deduction.

Jack Wyllie – Defender – Kelty Hearts

Jack was a half-time substitute for Kelty in the defeat in Lanarkshire.

The defender has been used regularly this season as both a full-back and at the heart of defence in a competitive League One environment.

Calum Adamson – Midfielder – Alloa Athletic

Calum was given the nod from the off as Alloa played out a goalless draw with Cove Rangers in the north-east.

The young midfielder was a driving force in midfield as the Wasps were unable to find a way through their resolute opponents.

Lewis Stewart – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Lewis, in the meantime, played his first 90 minutes for Alloa in the draw.

The winger played off the right-hand side and was unfortunate not to break the deadlock in the second half when he was thwarted from inside the penalty area.

Callum Burnside – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Callum also started for Andy Graham’s side in the goalless draw.

Like both Calum and Lewis, the Northern Irishman has made a big impression since joining the League One side on loan as they host Inverness this evening.

Arran Kerr – Defender – Stirling Albion

Arran was a second half substitute for Stirling Albion in their 1-1 draw with Elgin City.

The youngster played the final six minutes in defence for the Binos as they arrested their losing run.

Lyle Wark – Defender – Forfar Athletic

Lyle was a second half substitute for Forfar as they ran out convincing 4-1 winners away to Dumbarton.

The full-back has now made a handful of appearances for the League Two side as they look to continue their climb up the division.

Blaine McClure – Midfielder – Nottingham Forest

Blaine started and created Nottingham Forest’s only goal of the game in their 1-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League Cup.

The midfielder enjoyed a productive set of international fixtures recently in captaining Northern Ireland Under-19s and made an immediate impact at club level upon his return.

Sophie Black – Midfielder- Motherwell

Sophie was ineligible to face her parent club over the weekend as the Gers ran out 3-0 winners at K-Park.

The midfielder, enjoying her second loan spell at the fellow SPWPL club, will now join up with Scotland at Under-19’s level over the international break and will be hopeful of regular gametime at her club upon her return.

Lily Boyce – Midfielder- Motherwell

Lily, meanwhile, was also unable to feature in Paul Brownlie’s last fixture in charge of Motherwell on Sunday.

Likewise, the youngster will also join up with the Scotland 19’s and look to play a part in their upcoming matches. She will then link back up with her club who back on the pitch on December 7 when their Scottish Cup campaign begins against Glasgow City.

Sophie Townsley – Striker – Hamilton

Sophie was in the Hamilton lineup who endured a difficult afternoon in the capital as they suffered a heavy defeat to Hearts.

Another who will represent her nation at youth level, the striker continues to gain valuable top-flight experience with the Accies, who are in a battle to avoid the drop and are yet to pick up a point in the league this season.

Natalie Bandura – Striker- Spartans

The young forward was introduced from the substitutes bench as Spartans suffered a 1-0 defeat to Boroughmuir Thistle in SPWPL 2.

They fell further behind in the title race as a result, and will look to respond when their league campaign resumes in mid-December.

CaCee McKenna – Defender – Spartans

CaCee, likewise, was also introduced from the bench in the defeat at Meadowbank Stadium.

The young defender has been in and out of the Spartans side this season so far, who are back on the pitch in the first Sunday of next month as their Scottish Cup campaign begins at home to Hearts.

Lucy Livie – Winger- Boroughmuir Thistle

Lucy was an unused substitute as her team claimed a priceless victory in Scotland’s second tier.

As a result, Boroughmuir leapfrogged their Sunday opponents into second place, 10 points off leaders Kilmarnock.

Sophie Rutherford – Winger- Queen’s Park

Sophie was in the starting lineup for Queen’s Park as they returned to winning ways in their league campaign with a 4-2 win over Gartcairn.

The Spiders, who dropped out of the top-flight at the end of last season, moved into the top four in the table as they battle for promotion.

Mia McArthur – Midfielder – Gartcairn

Mia was in the lineup from the off as Gartcairn fell to the defeat in SPWPL 2 action on Sunday in Airdrie.

She has been a real mainstay in the team this season, enjoying her third loan spell of her career so far.

Rebecca Simpson – Defender - Gartcairn

Rebecca was also in the starting side as the Airdrie club were on the wrong end of the 4-2 outcome.

The defender has enjoyed a run in the team of late, having been part of the Light Blues squads back in the summer for their home pre-season outings.

Alba Stewart – Midfielder- Gartcairn

Alba, likewise was in the starting lineup alongside her two on loan Gers teammates.

It was a disappointing day for Gartcairn, who will turn their attention to the Scottish Cup following the international break when they take on Kilmarnock away from home.
