LAURA BERRY is grateful to Head Coach Leanne Crichton for the opportunities she has had at Rangers in the first half of the season.
The youngster, who is a product of the club’s academy system, has enjoyed successful loan spells away from the club in previous campaigns, but has become a mainstay in the side during the former Scotland international’s time in charge.
Speaking to the official Gers site on the back of impressive goalscoring form of late and ahead of their final outing of 2025 tomorrow, Berry said: “She is really good, she has given me and a lot of the younger players confidence and the trust to go and play for her.
“I think that is what you want as a young player, you just want to be trusted and given the opportunity. I think most of us have taken it so hopefully that can continue.
“Leanne gives me a lot of confidence in quite a fluid position. Playing out right, but I can come inside, I can do my striker work that I am more used to.
“Myself and Wilko have been working well together doing that, with Eilidh [Austin] up the wing combining well, so it has been good.
“I am really enjoying it, this is the first time I have had a good run of games at the club, so I am just taking it in my stride and hoping to keep going.
“I love scoring goals for this club, so hopefully I can continue to do that.
“I think the loans were beneficial for me, but I have always wanted to play here.
“Be a real player, start here, and I think slowly I have been doing that, so hopefully I can continue doing that for the club.”
The 18-year-old, who was on the scoresheet in the last league outing in a 3-0 home win over Partick Thistle, spoke of the continued improvement amongst the Rangers ranks this season, and how they will look to continue building on that heading into a new calendar year.
“I think it was a good three points, she said.
“We started off the game really well and got the two goals and then kind of slowed up, but I think it was a good performance overall.
“Motherwell, in the last league game before that, we had loads of chances, and we moved the ball nicely.
“I don't think we let them have much of the ball, just the movement overall was really fluid, and you could see that we are learning and getting the relationships with each other, which is good to see.”
The forward feels there is so much to look forward to for both club and country in 2026, as she hopes that the team can end the year on a high with a positive result at Balmoral Stadium at lunchtime tomorrow.
She added: “We know it will be a tough game; Aberdeen is always a hard place to go.
“We want to finish the year on a high, so I think we will go up there with the objective to do that.
“Scotland Under-19’s? It was a very successful camp recently for the team and me; we had some big results.
“I did score a few goals, so hopefully I can continue that in the next round and get through to the Euros next year.
“There are some massive games when we come back.
“We just need to keep building from what we have been doing this month and the previous, so hopefully we can continue doing that and get some positive results in the new year.”
