LEANNE CRICHTON says she’s delighted to see her side’s continued improvement after they made it four victories in a row with a 3-0 success over Partick Thistle in league action this afternoon.
The Gers produced another convincing display to dispatch the Jags, controlling proceedings throughout despite being guilty of lacking a clinical edge in the final third.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, she said of her side’s progress: “I’m really pleased with the three points and three goals.
“I’m a little bit frustrated that we took our foot off the gas after getting the quickfire goals, and I would have liked to have seen us have a bit more cutting edge early on.
“The way that we used the ball, we almost thought it would be easy to go and get that third goal, which against Partick Thistle it never is because they’re a team that don’t crumble nor give in despite going behind when they did.
“But overall I’m really pleased. We’re at a stage of the season now where we feel we’re just getting going.
“The break is coming, and we have one more game before the year is out, but I would love us to be able to keep going because I can feel the momentum that we have now, and the performance levels are improving week on week.
“We have personnel back, and we're building their minutes, which is something we’ve not had the luxury of doing all season. When I look at that and the amount of positives, I’m really pleased.”
On a third clean sheet in a row, Crichton continued: “We’re very aware that goals can be the difference in this league, whether it’s for or against.
“We try not to put too much pressure on ourselves. It is not a huge focus in terms of the game plan overall.
“The structure and the way that we defend, with and without the ball, is really important to us.
“We know the confidence it can give the group when you keep a clean sheet, and when you use that momentum and structure behind you, it gives you everything you need in games.
“It’s a pleasing factor, but it’s more pleasing where the group is just now and how hungry we are to do better.”
Rangers round off the calendar year with a trip to the north-east to face Aberdeen next weekend.
Crichton is keen for her side to end 2025 on a high note and collect maximum points at Balmoral Stadium in seven days' time.
She added: “We never look beyond the next game, so we’re pleased we’ve taken care of this one and we can dust ourselves down and regroup tomorrow.
“Travelling to Aberdeen in December is never the most appealing, but we know how tough that fixture will be as well, knowing Scott Booth and the group he has up there, and I’m sure they’ll be looking to finish the year as positively as they can.
“For us, it’s about looking at ourselves and if we can focus on getting those three points next week and round the year off positively.”
