JO POTTER has received international recognition for her playing career by being awarded with her player legacy cap at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Rangers head coach and former Lioness was present at the team’s 1-0 UEFA Nations League success over Spain as she was part of the history of the England senior women’s team continuing to be celebrated as they introduced legacy numbers three years ago for each player to have pulled on the jersey.
After earning 35 caps for her nation in total which included winning a bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup, the Gers boss was part of six former players receiving their special velvet cap with their established legacy number embroidered on the front.
All former and current players are able to collectively acknowledge their own part in England’s history as they celebrated 50 years of the national team back in 2022.
Speaking after receiving her legacy cap, Potter said: “It was an honour for me every time I pulled on an England shirt.
“It would have been a dream come true for me to do it once, never mind doing it 35 times.
“Playing for your country is the pinnacle of your career and coming back from the 2015 World Cup with a bronze medal was an incredible feeling.
“I was delighted to receive this special recognition and it was a proud moment for me and my family.”
