Lizzie Is Loving Life At Rangers

LIZZIE Arnot says she is loving life at Rangers after making the move from Manchester United in June.

The forward picked up the SWPL Player of the Month for December after impressing in Rangers’ two victories before the winter break.

The 24-year-old Scotland international was pivotal in Gers’ 9-0 win over Motherwell scoring her first hat-trick for the club and assisting two of the other goals, before again getting on the scoresheet in the 5-0 victory over Glasgow City.

Speaking to RangersTV after the Player of the Month announcement, Arnot said: “I am loving being part of the squad, everyone sets really high standards and to be part of a group where we have all got the same ambition is great.

“You want to be playing with people with the same mindset and with the same qualities so it is really enjoyable that I am doing that.

“You just go about every day trying to be the best in training and on the pitch so it is nice when it is recognised but it is just important that I am helping the team in any way possible and to get an award is a bonus.”

With the SWPL currently suspended, Arnot says the squad are lucky to have the support of the club and staff.

She continued: “It is difficult, I think it is the unknown as you are just not sure what could happen but we know that the safety of everyone comes first so we are just doing all we can to stay fit and stay healthy.

“We have a training programme which involves a lot of running but that's what we need to do as a professional athlete and it is so important in the game these days that you are fit and last in these 90 minute games at a high level.

“As a professional club we are lucky that we have the time and that is our sole focus so for us it is easier that we don't need to balance.

“We have more time and we have been trying to improve our game and have been looking back at previous games to do everything we can to try and make us better.

“We are very lucky that we have got a really good group of staff and they support us in every way not just physically and personally and obviously mentally at this time it can be challenging for different people.

“We are just a really close-knit group of players and everyone is there to support each other so we are very lucky.”

With Rachel McLauchlan, Sam Kerr and Kirsty Howat all joining the club over the winter break and the recent addition of Jamaica international Chantelle Swaby, Arnot feels the squad is only continuing to get stronger.

She added: “It is great, I think it shows the position that the club is in and the journey that they want to go on.

“It is great that we are attracting players from different nationalities as well and that is something that we want to build on and keep trying to do.”
