RANGERS can today confirm Mia McAulay will depart the club following the expiration of her contract.
A graduate of the club’s Academy, McAulay made her senior debut in 2023 and rapidly developed into one of the side’s most impressive performers.
Her strike against Partick Thistle in 2024 helped Rangers on their way to Sky Sports Cup success, while she scooped the Women’s Player of the Year award at the end of that same campaign.
She was richly rewarded with a maiden Scotland call-up, making her debut the following summer after scoring once again in a final for Rangers, this time in their Scottish Cup victory over Glasgow City at Hampden Park.
McAulay departs the club having made over a century of appearances, and we wish her the very best of luck in her future endeavours.
Speaking about her decision to leave Rangers, McAulay commented: “This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make, to leave the club I love.
“Having spent my entire career here, coming through the Academy, all the way to the first-team has been a sense of pride for myself and my family.
"Everyone knows I have grown up supporting the club, and it was a dream to wear the famous blue jersey.
“I want to thank all of the staff who have helped make me the player I am, as well as all of my teammates who have supported me.
“Lastly, thank you to all of the fans who have also been behind me; it meant the world to me.”
Women’s Head Coach, Leanne Crichton, said: “I am extremely disappointed to see Mia leaving the club.
“I know this wasn’t an easy decision for her, as everyone is aware how big a supporter of Rangers she is.
“Mia believes she is ready for a new challenge, and I thank her for all of her efforts and wish her every success in her next move.”
Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director, Donald Gillies, added: “It is a shame to see Mia taking the decision to move on from the club.
“We were keen to keep Mia, however, she believes the time is right for her to leave, and she goes with everyone’s best wishes.
“In recent years, we have lost some of our most talented youngsters to other leagues, and while that is a disappointment, it proves we are doing things right, and this is a club which produces and gives opportunities to their own.”
