MIA MCAULAY says she is keeping her feet firmly on the ground with her rapid progress seeing her make an impressive start to the new SWPL campaign.
The youngster has started all four of the Gers’ league outings so far getting on the scoresheet on three occasions including in the side’s most recent 1-1 draw with Glasgow City.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the team’s next fixture this Sunday she says she is delighted with her early season form but will remain level headed insisting she will take every game as it comes.
She said: “I am buzzing just to even get a start against City and to score is even better. The coaches have just said to keep going as I am and to take every game as it comes, don't get too big headed and just keep going.”
The winger, who only signed her first professional contract with the club back in July was also named the league’s star player of the week after her brace against Aberdeen recently. Saying she believes the key to her showings has been the team playing to her strengths.
She continued: “I am very happy, to get named the star of the week in my first year in a professional contract is amazing. I just think the other players around me know my style of play, and them knowing it is good for me because it means I can utilise that.”
The 17-year-old is looking ahead to the Light Blues’ next league fixture this Sunday against Partick Thistle and says the team are motivated to get three points having had to settle for a draw last weekend.
She added: “We know it is going to be challenging, we know how Thistle play, It is going to be a hard game against them but I think we are ready.
“It is really important, the game against City the result wasn't what we wanted, so that has made us even more determined to get back to winning ways.”
Mia is also up for the SWPL Goal of the Month award for August. Her fantastic strike to put the Gers back in front against Aberdeen saw the Light Blues run out 5-1 winners in their first home fixture of the season, and you can vote for her to win here.
You also can still buy tickets to attend the match against Partick Thistle here, kicking off at 4pm on Sunday, September 3 at Broadwood Stadium.
