MIA MCAULAY has been rewarded for her fine debut season in professional football with a first ever call-up to the Scotland senior squad.
The 17-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Jo Potter’s side having put pen to paper on a first pro deal in July 2023 before signing a contract extension three months later.
The youngster made 41 appearances throughout, scoring on 16 occasions whilst providing five assists, as she helped the Light Blues to a domestic cup double.
Previously representing her country at youth level, she will now join up with Pedro Martinez Losa’s side in place of Rangers teammate Jane Ross for their UEFA European Championship qualifiers as they take on Slovakia away on Friday evening before hosting Serbia four days later.
Speaking after receiving her first-ever call-up, McAulay commented: “I am delighted to have been selected for Scotland senior for the first time - it is a proud moment for me and my family.
“It has always been a dream of mine to play for my country at this level and I hope to get the chance to show people what I can do in these matches.
“It tops off what was an incredible season for me last term. Everyone has helped me settle into the team, but it is nice to have so many of my Rangers teammates here with me.
“It is always easier when you know a few people, but now it is about trying to show what I can do and why I have been selected.”
Gers head coach Jo Potter added: “I am extremely delighted that Mia has been called up to the Scotland A squad.
“It is more than deserved and a just-reward for all her hard work throughout the last campaign and start of pre-season, her development as well as willingness to learn has been fantastic.
“It has been a long time coming and I am excited to see her continue to progress and I am sure this experience will only benefit her moving forward.”
