MICHAEL BEALE praised a strong away performance from his side as they defeated St Johnstone 2-0 in Perth this afternoon.
Goals from Danilo and Rabbi Matondo were the difference at McDiarmid Park as Rangers picked up three points in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Beale said: “That is a strong away performance today, obviously there has been a lot around the squad the last couple of weeks and I thought they put in a good response. We scored two excellent goals, and it is another clean sheet which is three in the five league games.
“I was delighted with the way that we started the game. We got control really early and had lots of possession, we hit a few dangerous crosses and then I think the move from one end to the other was really good.
“Unfortunately, the stoppage in the game and the injury to Danilo broke the game down a little bit but in the second-half I thought we went again and we had chances to win the game more comfortably,
“It is an excellent goal from Rabbi, and he has been in that position two or three times so it shows that he is someone that can get those sorts of chances for us and when he takes them obviously it helps the team.”
The manager provided an update on Danilo, who had to come off after a collision with St Johnstone captain Liam Gordon as he fired Rangers ahead in the match.
“It is never nice as a teammate to see a fellow player break his cheekbone,” Beale continued. “It is a fracture in the top part of his face, and he is away to have that operation and hopefully will get some good news in terms of the timescale.
“After losing Danilo, we went with Abdullah [Sima] and I thought he stretched and got down the side and we always had that threat in behind, certainly with Rabbi coming on as well.
“Our approach to the game was good we pressed high, there was good energy and I thought that Danilo brought that and Kemar [Roofe] backed him up with Tom [Lawrence] and Sam [Lammers].”
Looking ahead to a busy week, which continues with the start of the UEFA Europa League group stage on Thursday evening against Real Betis, Beale said: “Four games are coming in a close period of time across the three competitions, we know we are playing a team that was sixth in La Liga last year they are a very very good team but they are coming to Ibrox and it is important we go and impose ourselves on them.
“In the two home games against Servette and PSV I thought we played well, and we scored four goals, and it is important we go and try and attack Real Betis and then we have the three domestic games. I thought the fans today were excellent getting behind the team, that gave the team an extra push and we are going to need that in these home games for sure.”
