TESSEL MIDDAG has encouraged Rangers to get back to winning ways when they resume their SWPL campaign this weekend.
The Light Blues are back in action on Sunday afternoon following the international break as they travel to take on Hibs.
Speaking to the official Rangers website to preview the clash in the capital, the midfielder wants the team to respond from their two recent draws as they target a positive result in their last league fixture before the split.
She commented: “I think it will be good for us to be able to sharpen up a little bit on certain aspects of our game.
“We have had a really strong start to the season and start to 2024 as well.
“The last games they have become perhaps a heavy load in fixtures and some of the things we have been doing really well, we didn't do as greatly in the last few games.
“I am looking forward to getting back out on the pitch again and we can try to sharpen up our game and then hopefully as a result of that we will get back to winning ways.
The 31-year-old, who has predominantly operated in the middle of Jo Potter’s backline in recent months, has acknowledged the importance of three points before heading into a crucial run of games.
She continued: “Hibs away will be the last game before we go into the split.
“We will play them again the week after but that is in the cup. After that, we will go into a split and we know that we will play tough games.
“We will play Celtic twice more home and away, Glasgow City, Hearts, which is always a tough opponent, Partick Thistle, who we dropped points against.
“It is very important to try to keep that gap as big as possible because we know the games will come thick and fast and hopefully our position will be very strong and especially towards the latter part of the season we will have tactical secrets for each other because we play each other so much.
“We have to try and be on top of our game and I am looking forward to getting back out on the pitch again, playing as well as we can and hopefully get back to a win and keep the gap at the top.”
Middag has reflected on the recent experience of playing at Ibrox once again in their last outing prior to the break and she feels it can only help with the continuous growth of the women’s game within Scotland.
She added: “It is such a beautiful old historical stadium; I think we all really enjoyed that.
“For a few girls it was their first time at Ibrox, the new players, Rowey and Liv but also Jane Ross for example.
“Unfortunately she has missed out on previous occasions where we have played at Ibrox, so I was delighted for her that she was able to play there for the first time as well.
“I think everyone really enjoyed it and wants to play games in big stadiums and at Ibrox as much as possible.
“It is our goal to win trophies but also grow the women’s game.
“Make it visible and show to young girls as well that it is possible for us as well to play in those big stadiums.
“It is always good to have the opportunity to do that and hopefully we can continue to grow the game together.”
