PAUL NSIO says he is over the moon to get his hands on the Scottish Youth Cup as Rangers rose to the occasion at Hampden Stadium in a 2-1 victory over Aberdeen last night.
The 18-year-old Englishman was a standout performer for the young Gers, shining in midfield with his blend of guile and creativity.
And it was extra sweet for the midfielder after he was involved in last season’s extra time heartbreak in the final of the competition.
Speaking to RangersTV after the Light Blues clinched the trophy, Nsio commented: “I think myself, Archie [Stevens], Leyton [Grant], Findlay [Curtis] and Mason [Munn], who were all involved last year, gave absolutely everything because of what happened last year.
“It’s our last year as Under-18 players, so we just wanted to end it on a high note.
“I was devastated last year that we lost, crying, but this year I’m just happy. I can’t explain how happy that I am.
“We’ve worked hard since the first round, getting past St. Andrews United, Fraserburgh, Hearts and Dundee United. They haven’t been easy games and we’ve really had to pull through.
“It’s the best feeling ever to win it here at Hampden.”
Nsio seemed to enjoy the freedom of the Hampden pitch, going close twice in the first half after weaving his way through several Aberdeen challenges.
The Dons would take the lead in the contest midway through the second half, but Steven Smith’s side roared back to turn the game on its head through goals from Curtis and Josh Gentles.
And the Englishman has credited to the noise from the section of Rangers supporters inside the national stadium for pushing the side forward.
He added: “The supporters gave us a lot of courage, so I’d like to pay my thanks to them as well.
“I just get the ball and really just do my thing, to be honest. I don’t really have many targets, but I just get the ball and do what I need to for the team.
“We went all out in the first 45 minutes, then they scored from a corner which we spoke about in the dressing room.
“But I told the lads to keep going, then we got a penalty and Josh Gentles scored from a corner.”
