Philippe Clement: Squad Are Focused On Dundee

PHILIPPE CLEMENT says full focus is on themselves and the next game as Rangers look to bounce back in Scottish Premiership action tomorrow night.

The Light Blues will make the trip to Dens Park in the rescheduled fixture to take on Dundee as they target a return to winning ways in league action.

Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the match, the manager wants his side to only look towards Wednesday’s fixture and getting a result rather than what is potentially to come.

He commented: “Is that the way you are looking at it, six games if you win them all it is all in your hands? I hope it’s eight, but I only look at one game, Dundee, like we have been doing all season.

“It is just game by game going full, it is about that.

“That is the way they did it and that is the way they are in this situation now.

“To still be fighting for a lot of things, that is what I expect from tomorrow with all the squad every second of the game to go full with all their energy and not to think about what is going on a few days after, that is for afterwards.”

The Belgian has spoken of what his team could come up against tomorrow with their opponents having secured their position in the league’s top six with results going in their favour over the weekend.

He continued: “What do you expect from Dundee now that they have their top six place assured? That they have a free ride tomorrow.

“That they will feel it like that, nothing to lose they will go full, to win this game.

“It is a different situation than if we would have played one week ago, where the pressure was on.

“It is a different situation but that is Dundee's situation.

“My situation is that I am focused on my team and what they need to do, but in that way the phase of Dundee and how they approach the game will be different.”

The boss wants his team to use their result at the weekend as motivation to respond as they target a positive end to the season, as the Gers head into their final match before the Scottish Premiership split fixtures commence.

He added: “They were very disappointed in themselves and that is a positive thing. They understood and they also went to the fans.

“I think it is a big step forward, in the past they just stepped inside.

“It is to stay together in that way and that is a very important point from my side that it stays like that in the disappointment that you stay together.

“They were down after the game about the performance. We had the next day and I had some clear words after the game and the next day we had a good debriefing about what went wrong, individually, collectively and how we can make it better again.

“The most important thing is how you react after that and I have a good feeling around that, that I will see the real face of my team again tomorrow.”
