RANGERS Academy have had a number of players proudly representing their nations over the last seven days on international duty.
Here’s a look at how the players fared:
Callum Burnside – Northern Ireland Under-21s
Germany Under-21s 3-0 Northern Ireland Under-21s – European Championship Qualifiers
Latvia Under-21s 1-3 Northern Ireland Under-21s – European Championship Qualifiers
After a tough outing against Germany first up, the Green and White Army bounced back to produce an impressive away victory over Latvia in Riga.
Although Callum was an unused substitute on both occasions, the young winger will have certainly benefited from the step-up in level after receiving his first Under-21s call-up.
He will hope to continue his outstanding form for Alloa Athletic in the weeks ahead and retain his Under-21s hopes when the side continue their European Championship qualification campaign in September.
Rydnn McGuire, Aiden McCallion and Alexander Smith – Scotland Under-19s
Italy Under-19s 3-0 Scotland Under-19s – European Championship Qualifiers
Republic of Ireland Under-19s 3-3 Scotland Under-19s – European Championship Qualifiers
Scotland Under-19s 3-0 Poland Under-19s – European Championship Qualifiers
Scotland retained their League A status by collecting four points from a possible nine in their qualification outings.
It was certainly a productive set of fixtures for the trio of Rangers players, with each making a significant contribution throughout the triple-header.
Goalkeeper Rydnn started all three fixtures, keeping a clean sheet against Poland while also making a string of impressive saves.
In the meantime, Aiden was the given the nod from the off against the Republic of Ireland and opened the scoring with his first international goal. He followed up the feat with a strike in last night’s triumph.
Alexander then found the back of the net against Poland with a fine finish on his right side to continue his impressive form for both club and country.
Blaine McClure – Northern Ireland Under-19s
Ukraine Under-19s 1-0 Northern Ireland Under-19s – European Championship Qualifiers – Wednesday, March 25 – Kick-off 9am
Romania Under-19s 0-0 Northern Ireland Under-19s – European Championship Qualifiers – Saturday, March 28 – Kick-off 2:30pm
Kazakhstan Under-19s 0-1 Northern Ireland Under-19s – European Championship Qualifiers
Blaine captained his country and played every available minute in their European Championship qualifiers across the last week.
The margins were fine across all three games for Gareth McAuley’s young side, who rounded off the fixtures with a crucial 1-0 win over Kazakhstan.
He was an impressive performer throughout for the side, helping to win a spot-kick in yesterday’s win as Northern Ireland finished second in their Elite Round group.
