RANGERS continued its programme of supporter round-table sessions last week, as part of the club’s ongoing commitment to open dialogue, transparency and meaningful fan engagement.
The latest session brought together senior club leadership, the fan engagement team and a broad cross-section of supporter representatives, from at home and abroad.
The round-table sessions are designed to be more informal than the Fan Advisory Board meetings, creating an open environment where supporters can speak freely and where no topic is off the table.
Attendees included Chairman Andrew Cavenagh, Interim Chief Executive Fraser Thornton and other club staff. Supporter representation came from the Fan Advisory Board, Rangers Supporters Association, NARSA, ORSA, Dubai Loyal, the Copland Collective, Northern Ireland, as well as fan media and a number of independent fans who registered their interest following the previous round-table session.
This round-table session was held online, allowing more supporters based overseas the opportunity to take part.
The discussion was open and honest, with supporters and club leaders talking through a wide range of issues affecting the club now and in the future. This included recent on-pitch form, the search for a permanent Chief Executive, squad balance, recruitment and the January transfer window.
Financial sustainability, regulatory considerations, academy pathways and player development were also discussed, along with how former players can contribute to standards and culture across the club.
Supporters also shared views on broader, day-to-day issues, including plans around stadium regeneration, away allocations and refereeing standards.
The availability of merchandise for overseas fans, the matchday experience at Ibrox, and ways to strengthen the connection between players and supporters were discussed, alongside the importance of communication and fan media access to senior leaders.
The meeting forms part of a wider programme of supporter engagement underway across the club.
The club also thanked fans for their strong participation in the recent Ibrox Stadium redevelopment survey, which attracted almost 11,000 responses. The feedback received will play an important role in shaping future thinking around the stadium and the wider footprint.
Alongside this, work continues across a number of fan working groups.
The Ticketing Working Group has now held the first of four planned meetings in January, with an initial focus on planning for the upcoming season ticket renewal campaign. The group will continue to meet to consider issues including policy, pricing, digital ticketing and season ticket usage.
A MyGers Working Group is being established to help shape the future direction of the programme, reviewing its scope, priorities and longer-term development. This work will be informed by recent supporter surveys, which received around 3,000 responses.
Several meetings of the Heritage Working Group have now taken place, with representation from the Fan Advisory Board, Rangers Supporters Association, the Former Players Benevolent Club, Club 1872 and individual supporters.
Recent work has focused in particular on the planning, delivery and reflection of the Ibrox Disaster memorial activity, ensuring it is shaped with care, sensitivity and supporter input, while also informing the group’s longer-term approach to heritage and remembrance.
Regular pre- and post-fixture meetings also continue around European away matches, bringing together supporter groups and experienced travelling supporters to share feedback and identify improvements.
Greig Mailer, Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, said: “These sessions rely on supporters giving their time and energy, and we’re very grateful for that commitment.
“Our focus is on driving Rangers forward with our fans, not just for them, and that starts with consistent, meaningful engagement through thick and thin.”
Further round-table meetings will take place later in the season, alongside the regular Fan Advisory Board cycle and supporter working groups.
