ROBIN Propper says he was delighted to be a goal hero to help Rangers to all three points against Dundee United.
The Dutch defender fired home four minutes into the second half to put Philippe Clement’s side 2-1 up after Mohamed Diomande cancelled out Sam Dalby’s opener.
Cyriel Dessers’ stunning late strike secured all three points for the Gers as they bounced back from Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League.
It was Propper’s second goal this month, after finding the net in the 3-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox, and he says the squad showed character to respond after a difficult start at Tannadice.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I think in the end it was a good game for us, especially in the second half.
“We did very well, we created chances and we could have won by more goals.
“It was a hard game, they tried to fight and win the duels against us, create things with throw-ins and corners, but I think we defended well.
“In the first 20 minutes we had some difficulties with that, but in the rest of the game it was really good from us.
“It was an important goal from Dio and we had to keep going after that.
“For my goal the ball came to Ianis Hagi and he saw me inside the box. I knew I was free and luckily it went in.
“It was a great feeling, especially in front of so many Rangers fans.
“We are trying to be more consistent. We are winning a lot of home games, but we need to keep doing that away from home too.”
Propper knows he was criticised by some people after making the move to Scotland from Dutch side FC Twente in the summer.
He believes he is now showing the Rangers fans his true self after settling in his new home.
Propper partnered Clinton Nsiala at the heart of the defence, with the 21-year-old French stopper making only his fifth professional start and his experienced defensive partner believes they are forming a solid partnership.
He added: “In the beginning I was enjoying it here, but it was different to what I was used to.
“I think I have adapted a bit more. The feeling I have is better and hopefully I can keep improving as well as the team - I always try to do my best for the team.
“Clinton has done very well and that is our fifth game together.
“He doesn’t need a lot of coaching or help, he can do it by himself.
“I try to help him with little things and he helps me too, but we are working well together.”
