Ross McCausland: A Dream Moment For Me

ROSS McCAUSLAND insists playing his part in the 3-0 win over St Mirren was a dream moment for him.

The Northern Irish attacker, who came off the bench against Aris Limassol on Thursday, replaced fellow B team graduate Zak Lovelace in the first half after the striker was forced off due to injury.

McCausland impressed and helped the team leapfrog the Buddies, with the 20-year-old admitting it was a proud moment for him in Paisley.

He said: “I was told to come on and express myself and play with no fear.

“Coming off the back of the European game on Thursday night my confidence was through the roof already. I wanted to show everyone what I could do.

“I can’t describe the last few days. It has been my dream from a young age to play for Rangers.

“Two games in a week, I can’t ask for more and it is a proud moment for myself and my family.

“You look at the players in the changing room like James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Jack Butland, learning off players like that is only going to make you better.

“These types of boys are at the top of their careers and I can thrive off their experience.”

Skipper Tavernier scored a first half penalty, before Abdallah Sima tucked home a second with 20 minutes left.

Tavernier then fired home a stunning third in stoppage time to secure the victory over the ten men, following Ryan Strain’s red card.

McCausland says Steven Davis’ squad were delighted to notch a clean sheet and they were thrilled to go into the international break with a victory.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he added: “I thought we were very good.

“Coming off the back of the last few weeks, the three points was the least the fans deserved.

“I thought the boys came out and showed the quality they have and I was delighted to play a part in the win.

“It’s been a tough few weeks at the club but the way we responded is what we needed and we can’t ask for much more.

“We are always delighted to get a clean sheet.

“We want to score goals but we never want to concede. As long as you score and you don’t concede then you are going to win.

“Going into the international break, three points is what we needed.

“It is a reset moment and we will come back stronger.”
