VICTORIA Esson praised goal hero Rachel McLauchlan for seeing off Glasgow City and booking Rangers a European spot next season.
The defender’s 20-yard drive flew into the top corner at the end of the first half to give Jo Potter’s side a 1-0 win at Petershill.
The victory means the Light Blues will be competing in Europe when the new campaign gets underway.
Keeper Esson was delighted to secure the three points and insists that was the most important part of the day.
Speaking to Rangers TV, she said: “We needed to get the win so we are delighted. Rachel scored a crucial goal at a vital time for us.
“At times we played into a scrappy game when we maybe needed to take control a bit more, but in the end we got the three points.
“We managed to create other opportunities and it is maybe a frustration that we didn't score more goals.
“It is nice to score a goal before half time and it was pivotal as it had been a bit back and forth.
“It was an important goal and we were able to see it out in the second half.”
The New Zealand international shot stopper produced some fine stops as she notched a fourth clean sheet in a row.
Esson says it isn’t just down to her, it is the whole squad being determined to shut out the opposition.
Potter’s side travel to Hibs on Wednesday night but the keeper insists they will be good to go again.
She added: “It is good to get game time, the clean sheet doesn’t just come from the goalkeeper, it is the whole team.
“It is about blocking shots and limiting chances and we were really good at that today.
“At this stage of the season you want the three points and we need to do what we can in the next two games.
“It is out of our hands but we have to take it one game at a time and see what we can do.
“It is a quick turnaround ahead of Hibs on Wednesday, but we have a bunch of great coaches who will have us ready for it.”
