ANY Rangers fan lucky enough to have watched Brian Laudrup during the Nineties will have a favourite goal scored by the great Dane but there are not many better than this one.
Gordon Durie wrote his name in the history books when he scored a hat-trick in the 1996 Scottish Cup Final against Hearts but he is the first to admit Laudrup was on another level on this memorable occasion at the national stadium.
The wing wizard provided the assists for all three of Durie’s second-half goals after he had bagged two himself, and his first on 37 minutes was football at its very best.
Richard Gough headed the ball forward to Laudrup in the centre circle and he flicked the ball over Paul Ritchie to Durie who, with his back to goal, nodded it back to the Gers number 11 before creating an angle to receive it again.
It was like a game of head tennis as Laudrup returned the ball to his teammate but what happened next ripped the Jambos apart.
Laudrup used his blistering pace to dart in behind defender Pasquale Bruno and without looking Durie lobbed a quite brilliant pass over the Italian who knew he was in trouble.
With the ball bouncing once, Laudrup didn’t have to break his stride as he sprinted at full pace into the 18-yard box and unleashed a tremendous right-foot shot across Gilles Rousset and into the bottom right corner of his net.
On Tuesday the Gers are in action against Danish opposition, with Laudrup in attendance as FC Copenhagen come to Ibrox in a mid-season friendly - you can pick up your tickets HERE and find out more HERE.
