Jack & Barker Back Available For Galatasaray

RANGERS will have Ryan Jack and Brandon Barker available for tomorrow’s Europa League play-off round tie with Galatasaray.

The duo have recovered from injury to be fit to face the Turks in what is sure to be a massive Ibrox evening, although boss Steven Gerrard has had to add Cedric Itten to his injury list after an issue in training on Tuesday.

Speaking to this morning’s press conference, Gerrard told RangersTV: "Joe Aribo and Kemar [Roofe] won't be with us tomorrow, but they are progressing well and moving along really nicely.

"Ryan Jack was back in full training yesterday and we managed that session, but he will train fully this morning as he has had no reaction.

"Brandon Barker is the same, he trained yesterday for the first time as well with no reaction.

"Cedric Itten had a bit of an issue yesterday in training with his knee that we are going to check out today, but he is a major doubt for tomorrow."

The Light Blues head into tomorrow’s clash in fine fettle following an enormously impressive 5-1 defeat of Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.

Gerrard continued: "The mood is good. We switched our attention pretty quickly to Galatasaray after the weekend - it was a good win, but I haven't really had much time to enjoy it as we had to switch our focus pretty quickly to a huge game tomorrow.

"There is a good team coming into the city so we had to move on pretty quickly. The players are happy and it is good to have a couple of faces back to join the squad.

"But the players are going into this fixture in a good place.

"I am proud of the whole squad - we have had injuries to big players but the players haven't looked for any kind of excuse - people have stepped forward, people have stepped-up and showed major character and delivered some fantastic performances.

"We saw Cedric Itten come to the party in-terms of goals at the weekend.

"Jordan Jones put a fantastic performance in and scored his first goal which was great to see.

"But I think the main player who I'd like to mention has to be Scott Arfield because at the beginning of the season, he wasn't picked as a starter, but at no given moment did he drop his standards or his attitude.

"He took it as a challenge to win his place back - he trained harder, he trained better and his opportunity came and he has arguably been our most consistent player over the last run of games.

"So I am really pleased with how he has gone about his business and he has sent a clear message to anyone else on the fringe or not getting much game time at the moment.

"A lot of people and a lot of players speak in the press - Scott did his talking on the training pitch which was fantastic for me."

Galatasaray boast a squad packed with talented players, managed by the massively experienced Fatih Terim.

Gerrard knows the level his side faced tomorrow, and explained: "They are a good team with fantastic players and a good coach. From experience in the last two years, we have noticed there has been a rise in quality as you progress through the different rounds.

"Galatasaray are a world-renowned team with big experience on the European stage and they have fantastic players and have a really strong spine in their team.

"They have experience of playing in these types of games so we know it is going to be a tough test for us.

"Galatasaray are probably everyone's favourites, but we are going into this fixture in a good place and we are in good form at home.

"Our plan is to leave everything out there and see where it takes us."
