KEMAR ROOFE believes Arsenal can be a fine test for Rangers as the Light Blues tune up for the Champions League qualifiers in three weeks’ time.
The Light Blues will discover their fate in Monday’s draw in Nyon, with Premier League Gunners the visitors to Ibrox on Saturday.
Roofe was speaking exclusively to RangersTV, with your club channel, app, official website and social media channels being the only place to hear from your favourites this pre-season.
He explained: "That's massive and you want to play against the best teams. That's why you want to play football - you want to be the best and win as many games as you can and win things and play against the best teams, and I think with this pre-season, with Arsenal coming up at the weekend and then Blackpool, Brighton and Real Madrid, we have some good games going on.
"It is all about preparing for the first game of pre-season. Yes, you obviously want to win every game, but the main focus is getting fit."
That winning mentality Roofe alludes to is something he feels is incredibly strong in the dressing room, and he continued: "I already had that and I didn't need to adapt as it is already inside me. I think that is the sort of players that the gaffer is recruiting to this club, hence why we won last season.
"The whole squad are winners, and every time we train, we want to win."
Roofe also reflected on his first season at the club, adding: "I am happy with it, and I can't not be happy with it when we have won the league. That is a massive thing for us and it was the main objective.
"But we can't just live off that now - that is in the past and that is history and we need to keep trying to improve every year."
