RANGERS can today announce the signing of Kevin Kelsy from Portland Timbers on an initial four-year deal with the option of an additional year.
The highly-rated Venezuelan international becomes the latest addition to the squad this summer.
He joins the club following an impressive spell in MLS and having tasted league title success in Europe already in his career with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Having progressed through the ranks of Mineros de Guayana in his home country as a youngster, Kelsy made the switch to Uruguayan outfit Boston River in January 2023.
Before he could make an appearance for the club, Kelsy made the move to Europe for the first time when he joined Shakhtar.
His impact was immediate at the Ukrainian club, with his winning spot-kick against Rennes in the UEFA Europa League sending Shakhtar through to the Round of 16 on penalties.
Later in the same year, the forward was on the scoresheet just 13 minutes into his UEFA Champions League debut when he netted against Porto as a teenager.
Kelsy then joined FC Cincinnati on loan for the remainder of the 2024 MLS season and struck his first goal for the club in a derby match against Columbus Crew.
Having finished the campaign as the highest-scoring teenager in the league, Portland Timbers swooped to secure the Venezuelan’s signature in January 2025.
He departs the club with 16 goals to his name in 43 appearances and having established himself in the Venezuela squad.
Speaking after joining the club, Kelsy commented: “I’ve heard a lot about the club. Even when I was younger, I saw the team in Europe. I know what the club means to the fans.
“I know we have to win all the games and play well, and I’ll be ready for this with my teammates. I’m ready for this new chapter in my life.”

“Kevin has a great attitude and a real desire to improve, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring at Rangers.”
