Rangers Announce Signing of Olivia McLoughlin

RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Olivia McLoughlin from Aston Villa on a loan deal until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

The midfielder, who can also play in defence, becomes Jo Potter’s sixth signing at the club since taking over in the summer as the Gers look to continue their fine domestic form in the second half of the campaign.

The 19-year-old started her career with Birmingham City, where she was named the 2019/20 players player of the year, she made the move to city rivals Aston Villa in the summer of 2020.

She was promoted to the club’s first team from the academy six months later before making her senior debut in a Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester City in the same month.

In October 2022, two days after her 18th birthday she signed her first professional contract, she returned to her first club on a loan deal in January 2023, going on to make 11 appearances and scoring once.

The versatile midfielder has also represented her country at youth level, playing for England Under 15s, 16s and 19s, scoring her first goal for the Under-19s side in a 5-0 win over Slovenia.

She will now join up with the Gers squad ahead of their Sky Sports Cup semi-final on Friday evening and will be hopeful of featuring regularly in the second half of the season.

Speaking after making the move to Rangers, McLoughlin said: “I am really excited and I am really looking forward to spending my time here.

“Jo had a big influence, when I went on loan to Birmingham last season I had her there and we got on really well, I loved playing under her and her style of play so that was a big reason for me coming here.”
