Rangers Confirm Backroom Staff

RANGERS are delighted to confirm the additions of Roy Makaay, Yori Bosschaart and Arno Phillps to new manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff, following final work permit documentation being approved this morning.

Makaay joins as first team coach, Bosschaart as performance analyst and Phillips as fitness coach.

Makaay enjoyed a fabulous playing career in Holland, Spain and Germany, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana with Deportivo la Coruna; two Bundesliga titles, two DFB Pokal’s and a DFB Ligapokal with Bayern Munich and a Dutch Cup with Feyenoord. He was also caped 43 times by the Netherlands.

He has taken on many coaching roles at Feyenoord since his retirement, including working with van Bronckhorst when he was manager from 2015 to 2019.

Bosschart too worked with van Bronckhorst at Feyenoord and Guangzhou and has most recently been working as a Performance Analyst with the United Arab Emirates’ national team.

Phillips meanwhile arrives with vast experience across the globe. He has worked with the national teams of South Korea, Australia, Russia and Turkey, as well as with PSV Eindhoven, FC Schalke, Anzhi Makhachkala and most recently, at Feyenoord and Guangzhou with van Bronckhorst.
