AFTER joining Rangers six months ago and getting some fine tastes of action in some high-profile fixtures, Jack Simpson can’t wait to replicate that in front of the Ibrox fans.
The central defender has heard plenty from his teammates on what to expect when fans are let back through the turnstiles, and is desperate to build on the success of last year given how special a year this is set to be for Rangers Football Club.
Simpson was speaking to RangersTV, with your club channel, website, app and social media outlets being the only place to follow the Light Blues this pre-season.
He explained: “I knew before I came, but once you actually get here, you see how big the club is and how historic it is.
“I think that has been the real thing that has hit me – I haven’t met the fans yet and I am just so excited as for me, that will be the first time once we get them back in the door.
“Hopefully with this being the 150th anniversary of the club, it will be an enjoyable year for everyone.”
Simpson reckons he is feeling the full benefit of his transfer to Rangers from Bournemouth going through earlier than planned back in January.
He discussed pre-season so far, continuing: “It has been good and it has been very tough. There are high demands here and the standard just continues to get better and better since I have been here, but it has been enjoyable and it has been great to see all the lads and the staff, and I have enjoyed the first three or four days here.
“I think it was massive for me to get a feel of everything around the club and to hit the ground running. Obviously, I am now used to training, used to the environment, most of the lads and what is expected, so I think it was really important that got done.”
Simpson is also desperate to continue to utilise the opportunity here at Rangers to improve further as a player, adding: “The coaching here has been very, very good, and you can just feel yourself getting better as a player with your understanding of the game.
“Winning is the main thing here, but it is also about developing as a player as if we can all do that, then we can get even better as a team.”
