The midfielder notched the only goal of the game in the win over Motherwell at Ibrox as he tapped home after Djedi Gassama’s shot was saved.
The Norwegian international was delighted to be the hero, but he praised No1 Jack Butland after he produced a string of fine saves.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “The last time I scored we never got the win, so it is nice to get that feeling.
“I was really happy to get on the scoresheet. I am working on getting into the box as much as I can.
“The more times you can get in there and find the right areas then it can fall for you.
“Jack has been huge for us and we can’t thank him enough, so I am happy for him too.
“We want to put those games to bed, but we are happy to get three points in the end.”
Aasgaard didn’t start any of the four matches ahead of the clash with the Steelmen.
The playmaker was determined to take his chance and while he doesn’t believe he was at his best in the victory, he was pleased to come up with another big moment in a blue jersey.
The Light Blues take on St Mirren at home on Tuesday night in the final match of 2025 and Aasgaard wants to end the year on a high.
He added: “It’s been good under the gaffer. I have been in and out of the team, but I have been working hard.
“I was happy to get in the team and repay him with a goal.
“I don’t think it was my best performance, but if I can provide winning moments, then I will take it.
“It is something to build on and I am looking forward to the next few matches.
“We are taking it game by game and day by day in training. We have to recover as the games are coming thick and fast.”
