Signing his first professional contract with the Gers back in January this year, he has enjoyed a real run of games at Under-19’s level, captaining the side on occasion and in their most recent CAS Elite League Cup win over Motherwell on Thursday.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the season so far and their eagerness to go deep in the competition, he said: “I think we have been ok, sometimes a bit inconsistent with the cup and some league games.
“For me personally, it has been better. I spent a lot of time out injured last season, but I have got this run of games under my belt and captaining the side has been good.
“Obviously, we had that slip-up in the Scottish Youth Cup, so we will look to rectify that in this cup and look to go on and win it.”
The 16-year-old featured from the off in the 3-0 success to round off Liam Ross’ side's outings for the year, as he gave his thoughts on the outcome overall on a day he pulled on the armband for the side once again.
He added: “I thought we were good, especially in the second half.
“I thought we started quite poorly in the first, obviously the weather conditions don't help us too much with the way we want to play, but we went into the second half, took on board some information, changed some things, implemented it well so I thought overall the game was good.
“Half-time message? I think it was mainly just out of possession, because obviously Motherwell like to transition.
“It was just about how we stop that and nullify it. We kind of just sat two back, sat two in front of their front two as well, so we could screen the ball into the striker and also win the ball back quickly, so it helped us.
“I thought once we got control and a grip of the game, we were able to build our way into it.
“Obviously, getting that first goal helped us play through them a bit more and helped us get the second and third, so I think that first was really crucial in the way that we wanted to play.
“It is great, but I think it is just mainly trying to be myself.
“Stay and stick to what I do, but obviously, you have more responsibility being the captain, but just trying to stick to who I am is more important.”
