The 24-year-old midfielder joins the club on a two-year deal after being called up to the Wales squad for the European Championships in Switzerland this summer.
Speaking to RangersTV for the first time, Griffiths couldn’t hide her excitement: “I’m delighted to be here. It’s a great club and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be here.
“I heard [of the interest] at the start of the summer but I had the Euros, so I was trying to put all my focus into that. Off the back of that I knew that I wanted to be here and play for Rangers.
“What was it that convinced me? I think it was the ambitions of the club and how successful they want to be. They have great quality here, so I believe we can.
“What they have won in the past and shown in the league, it’s a team with a lot of quality.
“It’s the right place for me off the back of the summer. It’s a good next step in my career to experience something a little bit different.
“I have been in the Championship for a few years, so it will be good to experience something new in Scotland.”
Griffiths arrives in Glasgow following the expiration of her contract at Southampton, where she shared a dressing room with both Katie Wilkinson and Laura Rafferty.
At the international level, the midfielder counts Rachel Rowe, who spent the 2023/24 campaign at the Gers, as a teammate, and Griffiths says she received nothing but a glowing recommendation of Rangers by all three.
She continued: “I spoke to Rachel Rowe who used to play here. We play together at Wales and she had a great time here.
“She only had positive things to say, and both individually and collectively she was successful here.
“She was saying that the girls were great and the culture was brilliant, that it was a really positive environment to be in and one that she thinks I can do well in.
“I get on well with Wilko and Raff. They’re both great characters. I saw them when I first came in and they gave me a really warm welcome. It’s nice to have a familiar face.
“They’re brilliant players as well as brilliant people. I think they’ll help me settle in really quickly and get to grips with what goes on here.”
Indeed, Griffiths’ Wales career spans eight years having made her debut for her country as a 16-year-old.
Although she didn’t take to the pitch in the most recent European Championships, the 24-year-old believes she’s better for the experience ahead of the next chapter in her career.
She commented: “I was delighted when I received the call-up. It was mixed emotions not being on the pitch, but it was an unforgettable experience and something I learned a lot from. I think I’m a better player for it.
“Playing regularly is the most important thing for me. I want to enjoy playing.
“If I’m doing that then hopefully the Wales selection will take care of itself.”
Exciting times lay ahead for the midfielder, who insists she was attracted to Rangers by the capacity to dominate the ball in matches and opportunity to regularly compete for silverware.
The side will play more matches than ever before at Ibrox this upcoming season and Griffiths says those combination of factors made the move a straightforward decision.
She added: “I’m a defensive midfielder, but I do like to get involved in the forward areas too. I like to turn on the ball and get the team playing on the front foot going forward.
“One of the things that did draw me in was that we dominate the ball in most games that we play. It’s really important for me.
“I don’t want to be out of possession all the time. I want to be on the ball and be creative.
“As a player you want to be competing at the top and this club gives me the opportunity to do that.
“[Ibrox] is a massive stadium with a lot of history. It will be a surreal moment for me to play there.”
