Andreas Skov Olsen Can't Wait To Get Started

ANDREAS SKOV OLSEN says he’s excited to meet the Rangers fans and hopes to translate his vast experience of European football into a hugely exciting second half of the campaign.

The Danish winger became the third addition of the January transfer window for the Gers, putting pen-to-paper on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to make permanent this summer.

Speaking to RangersTV for the first time, the 26-year-old couldn’t hide his delight at joining the club: “I’m very excited. I’m very happy that it’s done and I’m so excited to meet all the players, fans and the rest of the club.

“Rangers are the biggest club in Scotland with a huge history. It has huge traditions and is a very old club.

“When I finally heard that I had the opportunity to come here, I wasn’t in doubt for a second. I want to come here to try to help win trophies with the rest of the team, do my best, and have a great time here.

“It’s a dream to come here, to play for such a huge club, fanbase, and with such a history. I just can’t wait to start and meet everyone.

“I’ve appreciated the love so far, and hopefully we can have a great time here. I can’t wait to visit Ibrox.

“I have a lot of international experience as well, with Denmark and playing in the Champions League with Club Brugge, winning trophies too. This is most important, and hopefully it can give me an advantage.”

Skov Olsen didn’t need much convincing when Rangers’ interest became concrete, but the winger, who counts FC Nordsjælland, Bologna and Club Brugge among his former clubs, sought out the advice of a couple of former Gers players.

He continued: “I spoke to [Vaclav] Cerny in the summer, John Brown, Brian Laudrup, Oliver Antman – I spoke to a lot of people! They all had only good things to say about this club.

“Brian was saying it was the best time of his life here, and he won so many things here.

“He was also saying he had such a great time off the pitch also. It was only positive things from his side which I could use. It was a great conversation, and I really appreciated it.”

The Dane arrives at Ibrox with over 200 appearances in senior football, including 40 caps for his country.

He featured over 70 times for Bologna in Serie A, before starring for Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League and helping the club win league titles in 2022 and 2024.

On his style as a player, Skov Olsen said: “First of all, I’m a very attacking player, mostly on the wing. I would say I’m a creative player.

“I like to set up my mates and hopefully score and assist, create good moments in attacking football.

“I think for what I can contribute is hopefully something that the team can use to try to win trophies this season.”

The 26-year-old is already familiar with several faces in the dressing room, having featured for FC Nordsjælland alongside Oliver Antman as a teenager.

He also believes it’s an exciting time to be joining the club with so much to play for this campaign.

He added: “It’s been a while since I saw the guys the last time. I can’t wait to see them, and it’s going to be nice to have some faces that I know in the dressing room, and also to help me settle faster.

“What do I know about Scottish football? I’ve heard it’s very physical, a lot of duels, nice football, and has crazy, good fans.

“I think it’s a very good time [to be joining] and I really hope I can help win trophies.”
