The former player replaced assistant coach Jay Bradford at the Light Blues, and has already been part of the side that has claimed silverware success in recent weeks as they target more trophies during the run-in.
Speaking to RangersTV in his first exclusive interview since linking up with the Gers, he commented: “Time has flown in, it feels as if it was yesterday when I came in, it has been a quick five weeks.
“I have settled in really well and that is full credit to the players and the staff here and also everybody at the training ground and the club.
“I have known Donald for a few years through the SFA so I know how he works and the type of personality that he is.
“I know how positive he is about the girls and women's game and trying to improve it and that was a big thing for me.
“I didn't know Jo so we had a couple of conversations and right from the first moment I was really impressed with everything that she spoke about and felt like we could work well together.
“I know some of the other staff there but the main thing was about how Jo wanted the team to play and how she wanted them to train and what her hopes and ambitions were for the team.
“That made it a really easy decision for me to come here and I am really delighted with that decision, I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.”
Thomson has spoken on the real appeal in his choice to make the move to Glasgow and what it has been like working alongside the former Lioness.
He continued: “Working with Jo? It has just probably been everything I thought it would be.
“She is very demanding, has good standards, and has great attention to detail.
“That came across in the couple of meetings that I had with her.
“You don't get to play at the level she did and also the season that the team had last year without knowing the game.
“It has been very refreshing and I have already picked up a few things from her that help me and hopefully I have brought a few things I can add to the team as well.
“I had that before when I worked with Shelley Kerr at the national team, they are very similar in certain ways.
“They drive the standards higher and higher and that is why the team has improved on a daily basis.
“It is not often that you come to a club that is fighting for the league, is in the final the second or third week that you are here and in a semi-final.
“It has been strange but a brilliant experience and going back to Fir Park was great and winning on the day was even better.
“It was a real positive performance for the team and a real good advert for the women's game in general.
“It was great to be a part of that and full credit to the players and the staff who worked the full season to get that victory, it was just a reward for everything they have done so far.”
The former striker, who had a 19-year playing career, has reflected on some of his early highlights since coming through the door, notably the cup final victory and another opportunity for the side to play at Ibrox once again.
He added: “Final win? I think the week before was key for us, we played Motherwell and played really well.
“Some real attacking intent and defensively we were really aggressive and they took that into the game against Hibs, against a very good team on a very good run.
“It took us a wee while to open the game up but I think on the day we were worthy winners and a real good team we were playing against Hibs.
“They are still fighting to win the league and you could see that on the day they were good.
“I just felt that we edged them in terms of our aggression and intensity and our forward play and hopefully we can bring that over the next few weeks.
“Playing at Ibrox? It was absolutely brilliant, even just walking into Ibrox and seeing the grass getting cut and the lines getting put on the pitch was a great starting point.
“It was a brilliant start for the players and they fully embraced the challenge of playing at Ibrox.
“They made it difficult for Hearts, again a very good team that we struggled with in the first game.
“They made the most of it and hopefully we can get more opportunities to do that, but our priority is to make sure that we are training well every day.
“Jo drives that with the rest of the staff here, that has proven in the results over the last few weeks and I am sure that getting to play at places like Ibrox can help the game grow even bigger and better.”
