The 20-year-old was deployed in an advanced position on the right-hand side and already had two goals to her name before the half-time interval.
Despite being moved back into her usual position, she popped up at the far post midway inside the second period to cap off a memorable afternoon.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Austin said: “Leanne played me a bit higher today and I wanted to get at least on the scoresheet, so to get three was it amazing.
“One of my aims was to definitely score, so to get three was really good.
“How did I feel about playing higher up? I enjoyed it. A big part of my game is going forward and Leanne trusting me today to play me as a winger, working on my end product and that’s what I done today.”
Rangers took some time to find their groove in the contest but boasted the relative cushion of a 3-0 lead at the half-time interval.
The side certainly stepped up a level in the second period, although Austin admits the side will need an improvement in their return to league action against Partick Thistle in seven days time.
She said of the display: “I didn’t think we were great. It wasn’t one of our best performances.
“At half-time we had to regroup and it improved in the second half, but it still wasn’t up to our standards. We need to reach a better level next week.
“I thought half-time came at a good time because we were missing a lot of chances and our quality on the ball wasn’t there. We definitely needed it.”
