Barisic: Focused On Producing A Victory

BORNA BARISIC wants Rangers to do their talking on the pitch as the Light Blues prepare for Sunday afternoon's Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final showdown at Hampden Stadium.

The Gers will be aiming to seal their place in a second successive final in the competition after tasting Scottish Cup glory with a 2-0 extra time victory over Hearts last season.

Speaking to the media ahead of this weekend's clash, Barisic says the side are laser focused on producing a victory: "I started to prepare at the start of this week because I know how much the game means to this club and the fans. We will prepare well for this game.

"We have analysed our last three games [against each other] since the manager came in. We know that we made mistakes, but we know that in the last game we played a lot better than in the Viaplay Cup final. We took some positives things from that game, but there were also negatives that we will try to avoid this time around. I think we've grown since that game and we will see on Sunday.

"I don't want to talk too much. I would like to be more quiet this time and try to show what we mean on the pitch and win the game.

"When the game comes, we will need to be prepared for what's coming. The most important thing is that we are there, and let's see what's going to happen on Sunday. We have confidence that we can win the game."

The Croatian was nominated alongside captain James Tavernier and Malik Tillman for the club’s annual Player of the Year award, and the experienced full-back insists that competition in the squad continues to drive him forward.

He continued: "I wasn't aware of [the nomination] until one of my friends from Glasgow sent me it. I'm very pleased. I don't want to talk about myself and I'm not always perfect, but I'm trying to be as consistent as I can. I have a lot of assists and I feel that I have helped the team a lot. I'm very happy to be nominated and it means a lot.

"When you have someone who you can compete with for your position, you will become a better player. We all want a bigger squad with good players because then everyone can compete and training improves. I already felt that when we won the league, so I know the feeling. Ridvan [Yilmaz] pushes me to train harder, become fitter, and to give my best."
