It was a welcome return to winning ways at Ibrox for the Light Blues, earned through goals from Vaclav Cerny, Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane and Jefte after the interval.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win, Ferguson commented: “It’s been far too long.
“Seven games is not good enough. But I thought today we thoroughly deserved it, certainly in the second half.
“I was a little bit frustrated and angry in the first half. I had to make a change and we had a fair chat where I demanded more from them.
“I thought in the second half, in terms of the way we played, that was more like the team that I want to see.
“We had runners from midfield, attacked their penalty box, and looked a real threat.
“I need to give the boys credit because they took on board information that I gave them at half-time, and I thought in the second half we were miles in front of Aberdeen.”
Rangers controlled the lion’s share of possession in the first half but rarely threatened Aberdeen’s defensive line.
That proved the cue for Ferguson to summon Hamza Igamane from the substitutes bench, with the Moroccan making an impact and netting the third of the afternoon for the home side.
Ferguson continued: “I just wanted another striker upfront.
“Vaclav [Cerny] can play that position, but I felt we would have more power putting him centrally and Hamza upfront with Cyriel [Dessers].
“Certainly, the two of them had a real good connection.
“I thought Vaclav was pretty quiet in the first half, but that was more like what I want to see from him. He’s a real talented player.
“The midfield worked better with Connor [Barron], Nico [Raskin] and Mohamed Diomande.
“Overall, that’s the level of performance that I want to see in the final two games of the season.
“I never felt threatened with Aberdeen in the first half; I was more angry that we didn’t take advantage.
“We played infront of them and were quite passive and pedestrian on the ball.
“I told them to sharpen it up a little bit and move it with two or three touches, and when we do that we’re a completely different team.
“And you certainly saw that in the second half.”
On continuing the momentum into Wednesday evening’s visit of Dundee United, Ferguson added: “It’s a quick turnaround – three games in six days.
“I’ll need to use the squad, no doubt about it, but I thought the boys who came off the bench today – Hamza, Tom [Lawrence], Nana [Kasanwirjo], Danilo and Bailey Rice – they’ve given me food for thought.
“I want to have decisions to make and I certainly have a few on Wednesday.”
