Following Ianis Hagi, who joined last week, Bassey will arrive from Leicester City once the transfer window opens.
A left-back who can also play in the centre of defence, he’s very much looking forward to meeting up with his new teammates and to showcasing his talent in front of the Ibrox faithful.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV, Bassey explained: “I’m really excited. Rangers are a massive club and I am just buzzing to get started. Ever since Rangers were in the picture and speaking to my agent, I was really excited and they were one of the clubs I thought highly of and I am just happy now to get started – I cannot wait!
“I feel Rangers is the right place for me because I have seen players such as Joe Aribo come from south of the border and do so well.
“I know the fans are very passionate and want to win – and that’s like me – I always want to win. I know Rangers has a very rich history, and I have played at Ibrox before [for Leicester U20s], but the stadium was empty as it was just a friendly.
“You could feel the history though and it was a good experience – I just can’t wait to play there when it is a full stadium.
“I was delighted when Rangers came in for me. I know it comes with big pressure and that the fanbase are amazing.
Bassey went on to explain some of his attributes, continuing: “I feel like I’ll bring hunger as I am hungry to play and I have always wanted to play football, and I always want to win, so hopefully I can bring that winning desire.
“On the other side of it, I feel like being a modern-day full-back, I can go forward efficiently and make runs in-behind and also be strong defensively.
“I know the Scottish league is physical, but I feel like my athleticism will help me a lot.
“I’ve always been able to adapt, and I am just looking forward to coming in, starting to train, to meet the fans and just fulfill my aim in a blue shirt.
The opportunity, also, to work alongside one of his heroes in Steven Gerrard was too good for Bassey to turn-down, and he added: “It’s amazing. Steven Gerrard has always been one of my idols and a person I have looked up to when I was younger.
“He is a legend in the game, an England legend and it is like something out of a movie watching one of the legends play football and then have the opportunity to work with him.
“I just hope I can learn from him, and when I knew Rangers and Steven Gerrard were in for me, it was a no-brainer for me.”
