The Light Blues are back in action in Perth at 12.30pm as league business returns following the international break. Beale sat down with the media this morning at the pre-match press conference and believes it is important there is a response as the squad head into another big period of fixtures.
When asked about how he reflects on the start to the season, Beale said: “I am disappointed with the results just like everybody else and sometimes there will be small margins that can make a big difference in the game of football as we saw in the last one but ultimately you need to win games.
“It is very early in the season there has been a lot of change both within the club and in the playing staff as well and we have not started the season how we all wanted but there's a lot of football to be played and ultimately you just play the game that is in front of you.
“The team needs to win games of football, we have got some good opportunities in front of us right now and the team needs to show a rhythm in the way that we are playing.
“The new guys now have had enough time to settle, they've felt the heat in Glasgow in terms of the reaction and it is important we see a response now, from me first, but obviously from the players as well.
“We have brought really good players in, I think the time to judge them is not right now, naturally we would want the new players to come in and hit the ground running but the reality is the team has taken a bit longer to settle. I thought the last game we played there was no reason to lose the game and it is regrettable we lost the game, I'll own it, the players have got to own it as well and now we must show our worth in the coming months.”
Beale said he is looking for a greater intensity across the pitch as he looks to see improvement in performances, starting with tomorrow’s match against St Johnstone.
He continued: “The team needs to show greater intensity everywhere and that is the thing we have been working on. Tomorrow gives us an opportunity to make a step in the right direction. I am certainly not angling towards the front players, I think as a team we need to show more cohesion in our performances.
“We are underscoring what is expected in terms of the chance creation and if that changes then things look a little bit rosier but there's still work to be done behind the scenes with the team, there always will be.
“At this moment in time we are the team that has the least shots on our goal and the best defensive record in the league so there are some things we can move forward with in terms of foundation, but certainly if we are having that amount more shots than everybody else and getting into good areas of the pitch at some point, we need to take those chances.”
The manager provided an update on his squad as he revealed both Todd Cantwell and Kieran Dowell are set to miss the next few weeks through injury.
He added: “The strongest team will play the next game, there have been some things that have not been ideal at the start of the season for one or two players, but Tom Lawrence is now fully-fit and Kemar Roofe has played the last two or three so he is in a good place at the moment.
“Unfortunately, Todd Cantwell will miss the next three or four games and Kieran Dowell is the same but other than that everybody else is fit and ready to go.
“It is a problem with Todd’s knee, we sent him for a scan, and we thought it would be worse than what it is, but the initial diagnosis was four weeks, so we are probably one and a half weeks into that now.
“Kieran has had a reaction with his knee, both him and Todd have had their legs in a brace the last week or so. Kieran is now jogging but we have got to see how that one goes and settles down so I would say he is probably three or four weeks away as well.
