RANGERS Football Club can today announce that Laura Berry and Mia McAulay have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
Both players were involved with the women’s first-team last campaign and will now make the permanent step-up ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Berry and McAulay, both aged 16 have played through to age groups in the Girls’ Academy and are the latest graduates to step-up following in the footsteps of Emma Watson, Kirsty Maclean and Jodi McLeary last season.
Speaking on signing her first professional contract, Berry said: “It is a really proud moment for my family and I, I can't wait to get started, playing in the academy and then coming to the first team is a dream come true.”
McAulay added: “It is a really proud moment for me, and also my family because I was brought up a Rangers fan so to sign for the club I love the most is just an amazing feeling, coming up through the academy I have always looked up to the first team, and signing is a dream come true.
“I am buzzing to get started and to impress the new manager, because it is a new season and we want to win trophies.
Women’s and Girl’s Football Manager, Amy McDonald, also commented: “I am delighted for both Mia and Laura to sign their first professional deals, they both have a bright future at the club and have learned lots from their experience in and around the first team last season. I am sure they will both continue to develop under Jo’s management and have big roles to play for the club moving forward and in the seasons to come.”
