Borna Barisic Looks To Continue Strong Run

BORNA Barisic says Rangers are ready for Kilmarnock tomorrow as they look to continue their strong run in the Scottish Premiership.

The left-back says the squad have put the disappointment of last weekend’s draw at Hamilton behind them with a good week of training leading into tomorrow’s match at Ibrox.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Barisic said: “We have had almost a perfect season but we didn't lose that game, I think we just had a bad game.

“We don't talk about that anymore, it was one bad day but I know the fans don't like that and we don't like it either.

“We can be disappointed but we are progressing and training really well this week and we are ready for another game.

“We can’t expect after the third round of fixtures that all teams will play the same as they did in the first or second round.

“We know each other much better and also we haven't lost a league game this year and of course that is a challenge for everyone to beat us.

“It is not easy to keep the level of playing all the time but that is normal and everything is going well. We are in a good position and we just need to be calm and take it game by game by game.”

When asked about the Scottish game, the 28-year-old said he has learned a lot on and off the pitch since joining Gers in August 2018.

He continued: “You can learn a lot from the Scottish game and the Scottish league. Whenever someone asks me about the league it is hard to answer because it is a very unique league.

“It is very physical and especially unique when you play at Rangers which is such a big club with big expectations.

“I think I have learned a lot not only in football but outside of football, the relationship with the fans, the relationship in the club between players, the staff and the board.”

Barisic says he is trying to help teammate and friend Nikola Katic as much as he can as the centre-half continues recovery from a knee ligament injury.

He added: “Sometimes it is not easy for him because of injury.

“We have been playing very well and he wants to be part of that on the pitch but I am trying to help him as much as I can.

“I think he is in a good position, he is training very hard and has sacrificed a lot and I know that he has a big willingness to come back as soon as possible.

“He is very strong, I know everything that he does not only at the training ground but outside of the training ground and believe me he is doing everything possible to come back stronger.”
