The young Gers made it five wins out of five in the league so far this season with the victory at Braidhurst High School.
Thomson said: “Obviously we are delighted, we actually challenged the boys at half-time, I thought for the first 15 to 20 minutes we were a wee bit sloppy at times but we went through a period in the second half where we were breathtaking and fair play to the boys.
“We’ve put a bit of onus on the boys to try and play through the middle of the pitch a little bit more, at times we are a bit passive in possession and we play down the sides so we challenged them to really penetrate through the middle of the pitch so I thought tonight some of our play was excellent. The front boys were really at it.
Chris McKee came into the starting line-up for the game and netted four of goals in Motherwell.
Thomson added:
“The boys know when they do get opportunities to get in they need to try and stay in and that is the type of thing that we want to try and create like almost first team level to try and teach the boys that when you are playing well you stay in and when you are not playing well you need to fight for your jersey so delighted for them getting seven goals.
“I’m always one of them ones that always wants more, quite greedy when it comes to being a coach but I am absolutely delighted for them tonight.”
