Brogan Hay: We Have To Move On Quickly

BROGAN Hay says Rangers have to move on quickly as they seek a return to winning ways tomorrow evening.

After suffering cup final defeat at the weekend, the Gers shift focus back to league action as the post-split fixtures continue with the visit of Partick Thistle.

Speaking to the official club website ahead of their home outing at Broadwood, she said: “It is obviously disappointing that we didn't come away with silverware and a trophy that we have managed to maintain the past few years, but it is done now.

“The weekend is done, and we have got another game tomorrow night, and I think as players that is what you want.

“We look forward to another game coming fast, and we will prepare the best way we can for Partick Thistle. We can't dwell on it too much. There is still a long way to go in the season, and there is plenty to play for.

"It is a horrible feeling losing a game, especially a cup final, a massive game.

“You work hard to get there in the first place, but there is plenty more to play for in the season, plenty of league games, and we have got a semi-final at Hampden to look forward to as well.

“We can't dwell on it too much; we need to try and keep the squad together.

“I think that is one of the important things when you come off the back of a defeat that it hurts as players, but we then need to try regroup and bring everyone together because we still have games that we need to go and try take care of, and that is what our focus shifts to straight away.”

The winger is grateful for the opportunity to try to get back on the winning trail, which is just around the corner for the Light Blues, as she urged her teammates to use the weekend as motivation to make it a successful end to the season.

She continued: “The hard days make the good days better sometimes. You experience that defeat and the loss and the hurt, then it gives you that bit of drive and motivation to try and make things right the next time.

“I don't doubt with the group of players we have got and the hard work that we put in that there will be a next time.

“Whether it is your first time experiencing it or you've still got finals you want to go and play in, I think as players you just need to prepare the best way you can for those moments to come back up.

“Ultimately, it is pressure, but when you play for a team like Rangers, then you are always under pressure to go and try to win trophies.

“We have gone from a Sunday to a Wednesday to a defeat, then a game straight away to go and try to put things right.

“You don't want to dwell on it for another week, so I think it is good that we have got that opportunity to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

“Just go and play and try to have a good performance and get the win.

“I think that is what the split gives you is just an opportunity to play again right away; it is intense, but we have seen the way it has panned out in the past few seasons.

“It can go down to the final day, so we just need to take each game as it comes and focus on what we can control at the moment.”

The 27-year-old has made a handful of substitute appearances since returning to fitness in recent weeks, as she assessed where she is at physically and the challenge that lies ahead for the team tomorrow evening.

She added: “It is amazing to be back involved in the squad as much as I have been lately, but the split does pose a bit of a hard time to try and build up your minutes just with the way the games come thick and fast.

“I am just grateful to be back in the squad. When you are injured, you see it from a different side, and you see the hard work that everybody puts in every day.

“Thistle? They are a difficult team to play against and difficult to break down.

“You have seen in the past that they have been causing top teams problems and scoring goals.

“It is just not taking anything for granted and preparing the same way that you would prepare for any other game, because we know the threats that they can pose; they have done it against us in the past.

“We just need to focus on ourselves and stick to our game plan, and we go and try to control the game.”
