Camille Lafaix On Returning To Full Fitness

CAMILLE LAFAIX has shared her excitement at returning to full fitness as she looks to make her mark on the Rangers team moving forward.

The French-American has had a stop-start time of it during the campaign so far, featuring in the opening two games of the season before multiple injuries ruled her out until the final fixture before the recent international break.

Speaking to the official club website as the Gers prepare to return to league action against Hearts tomorrow, she commented: “I would say it is exciting to come back at the same time as the other girls coming back from the international break because I think it is just at the same time as a reset basically.

“I am motivated to keep building up my minutes and seeing where it can take us.

“International break? I think it is always going to be a good time when you are coming back from an injury.

“You are obviously just happy to be back with the girls. I would say it helped me to be able to get a couple of minutes in at the last game, and then still being able to stay consistent in training.

“Honestly, it has been difficult, but it has been exciting to watch the girls really take on this new identity under Leanne [Crichton].

“To see what they were capable of overcoming through that adversity, especially at the start of the season.

“Now that I am healthy and fit thanks to the medical staff, I am looking forward to just being a part of it and contributing to the collective as much as I can.”

The midfielder has spoken on the summer of change at Rangers, with several ins and outs happening, but says she can see what the team are capable of achieving, having had to watch from the stands for the past seven outings prior to the Hamilton win.

She continued: “It is difficult, especially over the summer break, you are preparing physically but also mentally to just start the season off right.

“To go from back-to-back injuries from my ankle and my patellar tendon.

“We've been trying to just manage it properly, but it got to the point where it was just a bit too stressed, so we decided to properly rehab it. So I have been out since those first two games of the season.

“Which has now ended up with me being back for just one round of fixtures, but I am looking forward to finally being back with the girls again.

“Seeing what she [Leanne] is capable of doing off the field since I have been out for a bit has been extremely positive.

“I would say now that I have been back in training a bit more consistently recently, I have been able to just tell how comfortable she makes all the players feel and how driven we are in keeping the standard high and the intensity.

“I think it very known the adversity that we have faced since the start of the season.

“Despite that, I'd say the results that we have managed to achieve go to show that we are together, and it is exciting to see what the future has in store for us.”

Lafaix looked ahead to tomorrow’s trip to Edinburgh, with the 24-year-old feeling they have to improve from their last meeting on the second day of the season, amidst a busy period for the squad with a Sky Sports Cup quarter-final and Old Firm to come.

She added: “Hearts always show up, but I think we still have that draw 2-2 at Ibrox kind of sitting with us.

“We will definitely want to show up and start this next round of fixtures properly and make sure that we take home the three points.

“What we have ahead of us in between these two international breaks is really exciting.

“I feel like it can be a perfect amount of time to just continue pushing and starting off this next round of fixtures how we want to, and setting that standard high is what we are going to do.”
