The 25-year-old grabbed a goal and two assists in the Light Blues' 5-2 victory over St. Mirren last time out, with boss Michael Beale challenging the midfielder to build on his impressive start at Ibrox.
Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday afternoon's trip to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, Cantwell said: "I'm enjoying myself. I said when I first came here that the manager is going to give me the freedom to play the way that I want to play, and I think you're starting to see that at the moment. I'm picking up the ball in different places and I'm contributing to the team.
"The reason I came here was because of the manager. Having more freedom is exactly what we planned for so I know the best of me is still to come, but I'm definitely enjoying myself at the moment.
"The size of the club is massive, and the responsibility is something that I feel now that I'm here and settled. I'm really enjoying playing at Ibrox and the responsibility that is on my shoulders. I've just played the way that I want to play. It's fantastic to have that feeling where the fans like you. It's powerful for me as a player to have that connection and it's something that is special about Rangers."
Sunday's trip to the Granite City is the Gers' final league fixture before split, and Cantwell insists that the side are keen to continue their progression under the guidance of Beale and his coaching staff.
He continued: "We've got a lot to play for because we play for Rangers. Every game is important. We have a semi-final to look forward to, and we have the rest of our league campaign to finish strongly and build into next season. The manager, the staff and the players are all very hungry to continue with building forward.
"As a Rangers player you have to go in with the mentality that no-one really wants to play you, and when they do it's some sort of a rivalry. It's a compliment to where you are if every team sees you as a rival.
"We've got a game on Sunday and our full focus is on the game on Sunday. That's how the manager likes to do it. We'll tackle the task in front of us and we move forward after that."
