The Light Blues will make the hop up the A9 to take on Tommy Wright’s team, with the Saints fresh from their decent draw at Pittodrie last week.
Speaking ahead of the match, Gerrard said: “I certainly respect him and his team and it will be a different type of challenge. They are at home, but it is a very important game for us, a big three points and we need to try and take the feelgood factor from Thursday night into Sunday.
“They will try to play on the fact that we have had a really tough game on Thursday night, and their results have improved slightly of late.
“Tommy is a good manager, they are really well-organised and they got a really strong result against us at Ibrox at the back-end of last season.
The Feyenoord victory will live long in the memory for all Light Blues fans who were at Ibrox last night, and Gerrard reflected on what was a special and emotional night for the club.
He continued: “I think the level of performance. I think first half, it was exactly what we were looking for, and that is the level we have been striving for, for a long time.
“But in terms of setting a game plan out for the players to follow, they were outstanding for the majority of the game. I think we took probably five or six minutes to get going at the beginning, and then at times we were hanging on in the final stages, but you have to take into consideration you are playing against top players and against a top team.
“The Europa League is a very difficult level, but in the main, I am absolutely delighted with the players’ performance.
“[The atmosphere at Ibrox is] right up there. Around the world there are a handful of stadiums that can create that – Anfield for sure being one of them as I have experienced on numerous occasions as a player, but to stand on the side and soak that atmosphere up last night, it was special.
“These are the nights we want more of. It’s very addictive being part of nights like that and I think the last 48 hours as well and the emotion of that, the performance was very fitting and I am sure the Ricksen family are very proud of the players and the application they gave.
The manager was also asked about the excellent performance of Borna Barisic last night at this morning’s press conference.
He added: “Borna was outstanding, and the back four I picked last night, I went for experience. I brought two internationals in, Filip being one of them, who has experienced that level before both internationally and in Europe.
“I thought his performance was outstanding last night and that should give him a lot of belief and confidence to build on that. But Borna is very highly respected within the staff and the dressing room.”
