VACLAV CERNY hopes his double against St Johnstone starts to repay the faith shown in him by Rangers boss Philippe Clement.
The Czech winger notched a brace against the Saints in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone as the Light Blues bounced back from Thursday’s Europa League defeat to Lyon.
Cerny admits his first few months at Ibrox have been a rollercoaster but he has praised Clement for showing him unwavering support.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It is always pleasing to score. I needed that. It was two good moments and two good finishes and I am very glad to do that.
“Do I want to contribute goals? That’s the major thing I would love to bring but if it is not possible I want to give my all to help the squad some other way.
“I am here to do this though and I will work very hard to keep doing that.
“The manager has been great with me. He has been amazing, especially for the past week.
“I was struggling with my goal contributions, but I appreciated the talks we had and the trust he has in me. It means a lot to me.
“I want to repay him for that.
“I have had ups and downs but that is pretty normal. I want to do everything in every game the best I can.
“Not every time you get the result you want, but the most important thing is we stick together. I think we are showing that.
“I knew coming here there was a demand. At the clubs I have played at before, it was no different to Rangers.
“It is supposed to be this way, the demands on everyone that we do well. That is more than normal but we have to accept that and embrace it.”
Cerny’s opener was a superb curled effort from the edge of the box, before he sealed the win with a second half strike.
The wide man knows the performance wasn’t perfect but he believes notching another Premiership victory, with a clean sheet, was vital.
He added: “We could have made it more perfect if we added some more goals, but in the end we got a clean sheet and three points and that’s all that matters.
“These games are tough and we were very well prepared for it.
“We had a tough week but we had perfect moments, some we have to do better, but we won the game and that was very important.
“We feel like we are growing and that should be the case.
“We have played a lot of games, and you need time for relationships to grow. We will keep working hard and focusing on every single game.”
