The Light Blues had to be patient throughout but ultimately ran out 3-0 winners over Spartans in league action to maintain their perfect start to the new year.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the win in Edinburgh, she commented: “I think overall it was important that we got a big three points.
“3-0 and a clean sheet which is always a positive but I think we can play better.
“We demand that standard from each and every one of us and it is important that we reflect on this and know that we can push to another level again.”
The midfielder always felt it was a matter of time before they found the breakthrough on the day as her cross was met by the head of Katie Wilkinson to open the scoring just after an hour, as the forward reached the 30-goal mark for the campaign in the process.
She continued: “She is a goal machine; it is always nice to play with somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net.
“She has shouted well for it and I’ve known exactly where to put it without even looking up so hats off to her.
“Half time message? It was just to push on, we knew we could get to that next level and I think it was important that we brought that into the second half, able to keep the ball that wee bit longer and be that bit more patient on the ball.
“I think we did that and the three goals came, we always knew that they would come it was just about being patient and waiting for that opportunity.”
The Gers were up against 10 players for 50 minutes of the contest after Kate Fraser’s first half dismissal, with Cornet saying it can be difficult trying to break a team down despite them having the disadvantage.
Jo Potter’s side now turn the focus to the next stage of their Scottish Cup defence, as they host Montrose at Broadwood next Sunday.
She added: “Teams can then make it hard for you, sit in a low block which is always hard to play against but I think we managed it well and were patient enough to wait for those three goals to come.
“Our aim is to retain that cup so we will look forward to Sunday and we’ll prepare well but it was an important three points here first of all.”
