The 16-year-old forward showed tremendous composure to round the Hearts goalkeeper and help his side move one step closer to a fourth successive Hampden showpiece in the competition.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Eadie commented: “I’m buzzing. I didn’t start the game which was a bit frustrating, but as a player and a striker, you need to come on and perform, especially at 0-0.
“Stevie [Smith] said to me when I came on that I need to go and show why I should be playing, and I feel that I have that done that and brought something different to the game, scored, and took us through to the next round.
“I just saw Paul [Nsio] pick the ball up in space in the middle, look up, and I’ve run off the blindside of the defender and went in-behind him.
“I think the defender has went to clear it but he hasn’t saw me; I’ve shouldered him and got infront.
“I then spotted the goalkeeper coming out; my first touch takes it round him and I’ve got an open net.”
It was a closely fought encounter at the Rangers Training Centre, with Hearts proving obdurate opposition in their defensive shape.
However, the young Gers showed the required patience to unpick the defence with 15 minutes remaining, with goalkeeper Mason Munn making a string of impressive saves in the latter stages.
Eadie continued: “I think Hearts struggled to make chances, but they defended pretty well.
“I felt we had to defend for the last 15 minutes as they got a bit of momentum after we scored.
“We had to dig in and make sure they didn’t get a goal, but I felt we did well throughout the game to prevent them from scoring.
“All the boys are buzzing. The songs have went straight on in the dressing room.
“We’re delighted to get through, but we now need to get back into training, focus on the next game, and see who we get in the next round.”
