Borna Barisic and Fabio Silva were on target against the Championship outfit and the Gers’ boss was happy with the dominance his side showed at Ibrox.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time he said: “It could've been much more than the two, there were a few scrappy moments in their box, people saving balls on the line and their goalkeeper also played a good game.
“Keeping the clean sheet was very important, we hardly gave away anything in the whole game and it was a deserved victory. It was also important to give minutes to players who are just in the building or coming out of injury, so the squad is becoming bigger and bigger and that is what we are going to need in the next few months with a lot of games.
“I expected a more difficult task to be honest and that we would have more difficult defensive moments, but the team are really playing offensive football, football that everybody likes to see but our organisation stays good, and we don't give away too many things and that is important for the future also.”
January signings Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande made their first starts for the club, and Clement said it has been a positive start for the most recent additions.
He continued: “Oscar played in his normal position, Dio played a little bit higher than he is normally playing so it is important for both of them to take the minutes and get the connections with the other players.
“It was really positive, everybody sees that I have two good technical players who can help the team to get our goals in the next couple of months.
“That is the story for the last two or three months, everybody is understanding the story and what to do in each position so that is going to be our strength also, it has been our strength that we can make rotation.”
On tomorrow evening’s quarter-final draw, Clement added: “I am always excited about that but if you want to win a cup then you need to win against everybody so to achieve our ambition we need to win three more games.”
