PHILIPPE CLEMENT says he is confident his side can handle the atmosphere at the Karaiskakis Stadium as they continue the Europa League campaign tomorrow evening away to Olympiacos.
The Gers boss hopes he can embrace the challenge, as he sat down to speak to the media at this evening’s pre-match press conference.
He said: “I am confident about that, we have a few guys who are less experienced but we also have enough experienced players in the squad. They are used to playing at Ibrox and that helps.
“In Malmo it was a really good atmosphere too so that is what you want. There is always some magic with European nights, it is always something special.
"There are different playing styles, different opponents and in that way for a player it is always nice to play in stadiums like this with a big crowd and I think everyone will embrace that.”
On the game and the challenge he expects from Olympiacos, Clement continued: “We have a lot of respect for what they did last season also so it is a big club.
"They have won twice in this competition against Malmo and against Braga, so we know it is a really big test tomorrow. It is a big game, but we are looking forward to that and to impose ourselves and to go for a good result.
“We want to play against every opponent to get points otherwise it is of no use to play the Europa League. This is the mentality we want to see in the squad no matter who the opponent is.”
Clement provided an update on his squad as he revealed Tom Lawrence will be out for 4-6 after an injury Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final, while he also said Ridvan has travelled with the group to Greece as he makes his return from injury.
The manager added: “Tom has been important, he took on the role really well this season, he scored several really important goals but not only that, also defensive wise but it gives chances to other players to prove themselves.
“It is like that in football, it is part of football also. We don't have many injuries for the moment, touchwood, we want to continue in that way.”
