The manager was impressed by the reaction the squad in the second-half as they pushed for a breakthrough against the Czech champions but ultimately picked up an important point on the road in Europe.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Clement said: “It is a deserved point, it is the logical result although in the second-half we were the better team and we had a chance to win the game but in the first-half they were the better team.
“Our reaction in the second-half was good, we showed the players some images during half-time of the things that we were not doing well both on the ball and without the ball and the reaction in the second-half was really good.
“In these circumstances having only two days to change the system of playing, with no full-back available I think it is a really important point and the team showed a lot of resilience to fight until the end in all the circumstances.
“In the first-half we can talk about the saves of Jack but in the second-half there were also the saves on the other side. There were two good saves from the Sparta goalkeeper from Sam Lammers and with Danilo, so we could've won this game in the second-half but if you see over 90 minutes it is a fair result.”
With tonight’s match only Clement’s second in charge of the Light Blues, he feels it has been a positive start, with the players adopting a new formation this evening.
The manager explained: “In the first-half it was difficult with the ball, difficult without the ball, we could not find our normal football but the team are coming out of a situation where they lack confidence and playing another system breaks the good things that we built last week.
“I am really happy with the reaction in the second-half where they recognised the spaces more and then they did it in a good way so I think after 10 days and missing so many players, and the players doing good things in two systems - it is a really positive start.
“Winning points away from home is really important in Europe, of course we are hungry, we want to win but I think in the circumstances that we had the last couple of days this is a really important point.”
