The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 4-0 victory for Gers in what was the Belgian’s first match in charge. He believes there wasn’t as much between the teams as the scoreline suggested that day as he looks for another strong performance from his side.
Ahead of the return of the Scottish Premiership following the winter break, Clement sat down to speak to the media. He said: “I think it is clear that the team has made good steps forward but that doesn't mean anything towards the game tomorrow night.
"I know we had a good win in that game although the difference between the two teams was not as big as the result was at the end of the game, we need to be honest about that.
“We know Hibs are a team who play really good football, they are a team who make good combinations with fast wingers, they have players in front and in the midfield that can score goals, so we need to play a good game.
“The game that we won at home was a long time ago. We were efficient that day, we were good, but we need to repeat that again tomorrow.
The manager is expecting a different test against Hibs, with his squad having to deal with a low block from opponents in recent weeks.
He continued: ““It is difficult to play against, they do it in a good way, you see a clear structure and an idea. They are one of the teams in Scotland to do that, in the last couple of weeks we showed good things against teams who play in a low block and put a lot of balls forward so this is a totally different game, so it is interesting for us also to see how we react.”
Clement provided an update on his squad, as he revealed Abdallah Sima will be out ‘long-term’ having suffered an injury while on international duty with Senegal.
Ben Davies, Kemar Roofe, Kieran Dowell and Danilo are all also missing for the trip to the capital.
He continued: “Like I always said, I want to look at the glass half-full, I am not going to go in pity and disappointment. The team and squad have proven that they always stand up when something happens, and other players do the job.
“There were really really positive surprises in that way, so we are going to go for that and to find other solutions and other surprises.”
When asked about his relationship with Nils Koppen, who joined the club at the start of this month as director of football recruitment, Clement continued: “It has been good, he is super determined, hard-working day and night, together with all of his team. It is the same as with me, I am always the spokesman about everything, but I don't do everything myself in this building.
“I have a great staff doing a lot of things for me and it is the same with Nils. He is happy also with the people who are in the building and how they are helping. We are discussing all the developments between us but always together with the board with Creag [Robertson], James [Bisgrove], the chairman and with investors.
“There is a lot of contact and that is also what I like, I like to be involved, I like to know everything that is going on. Is it going in a positive way or is it becoming difficult and why so, I like to have all the information so I can make the right decisions.”
